“Everyone! Lend me your ears! Soon we will arrive in the Valley of Torment, where our Imperial allies will fight for supremacy against the forces of the Kingdom and Central Church. This is certain to be a violent and bloody battle. Death will indeed feast well this day. So think long and hard... Is this what you want? Yes, we signed a pact with the Empire—but only under duress after they overran our lands! And what was the other option? To side with a corrupt church and the Kingdom they cling to? Never! A false choice is no choice at all! But now—right here and now—the Leicester Alliance has a chance to turn the tables! Loyal friends! Brave allies! Fellow visionaries! Will we accept an emperor who pays for her needless wars in the coin of our blood? Will we submit to an archbishop and a king who would shackle us to their outmoded customs?! I say no! I say never! And this day, on this battlefield, we stake a claim to a future of our own making! This day, we help these monsters destroy themselves and claim this world for our own! This day, we declare war against the Empire and the Kingdom!
--Claude”

A Clash of Ambitions is the eleventh chapter of the Scarlet Blaze route of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and the fourteenth overall. To access it, you must defeat Byleth and Jeralt in Chapter 10: Shifting History.

Story[]

After dealing with the disturbance in Hrym and the rebellion at Fort Merceus, Edelgard and the Imperial army join forces with Claude and the Leicester Alliance to focus on fighting the Kingdom and the Central Church. When the Kingdom receives news of the Empire and Alliance's joint attack, Rhea suggests attacking Garreg Mach directly to convince those in the Alliance still faithful to the Central Church to abandon their support for the Empire. Dimitri believes a direct assault to be too risky and suggests countering the Empire and Alliance by taking their forces to Ailell.

"Just a minute! The following section contains spoilers. Viewing it will cost a lot. Are you prepared to pay for it?"

The four armies meet in the Valley of Torment--the Empire and Alliance on one side, and the Kingdom and church on the other. Claude decides to end the alliance between the Alliance and the Empire, yet the empire emerges victorious, and the Ashen Demon, who tipped off the Federation, slain. Rhea and the Knights of Seiros are nowhere to be seen among the church forces, and Ferdinand suspects that she has carried out her plan to go for a direct assault on Garreg Mach using secret paths connecting Ailell and the monastery.

"End of spoilers. It's a pleasure doing business with you!"
