Yied Shrine

The Aed Shrine as it appears in Chapter 7.

The Aed Shrine is one of the three castles in the Aed Desert from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.

Profile[]

Located on crumbling sandstone cliffs near the center of the eponymous desert, it has long been where the Loptr Church has hidden in order to avoid persecution. After the Isaachian-Grannvaleian War, the Balmung of Isaach is placed in the Aed Shrine. It is assumed that most of the Loptr Church that appears in Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, including Manfroy, originated from here.

The Aed Shrine occupies a strategic location along the desert crossing from Ribaut to Dahna. Because of this, in Chapter 7, the Aed Shine becomes Seliph's first stop on his desert passage. Unfortunately, the shrine is under the protection of the dark bishop Kutuzov, who is eager to kill those he sees as interlopers defiling the shrine.

When Seliph seizes the Aed Shrine from the command of Kutuzov, he is shocked to discover that the Loptr Church hides under this ruined place. While he doesn't think it's right that they should have to live here just because their ancestors were part of the Loptrian Empire, Lewyn explains the people would have been burned at the stake if they had not, and that Seliph must be careful when placing labels on good and evil. It is clear that the leadership of the Aed Shrine, at least, remains loyal to the Loptrian Empire. The shrine is protected by dark mages of the Loptr Church and a mercenary.

In Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, it is said that the people that Veld turns into stone are moved to the Aed Shrine, which supposedly includes the captives of the Battle of Belhalla.

Trivia[]

  • In Chapter 7, after the Aed Shrine is captured, the cliffs the shrine sits on crumble into sand.
