Ailell, the Valley of Torment is a location in the north of the Leicester Alliance, near the border with the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.

Profile[]

Ailell, the Valley of Torment is so named due to its intense environment. Streams of lava flow and pool throughout the valley, roasting it with extreme heat, and flames can suddenly burst from the ground. Although most people try to avoid Ailell, monks once used it as an ascetic training ground. According to legend, Ailell is a manifestation of the rage of the Goddess, who passed judgment on humanity's corruption and burned the previously forested area with a pillar of light from the heavens.

It is revealed through dialogue that the explanation of Ailell being the result of the Goddesses' wrath is false. In actuality, the valley's transformation was due to a failed attack on Garreg Mach by Those Who Slither in the Dark, utilizing Javelins of Light.

Academy Phase[]

In Imperial Year 1180, Ailell is the setting of Ingrid and Dorothea's Paralogue, Rumored Nuptials. After a meeting with a suspicious suitor and electing to reject his marriage proposal, Ingrid, with the assistance of Dorothea and the rest of Byleth's class, eludes the spurned suitor's hired thugs and escapes through Ailell.

War Phase[]

In Imperial Year 1185, Ailell becomes a strategic crossing between the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Leicester Alliance.

If Dimitri was sided with, his forces march to Ailell in order to link up with the army of Rodrigue, who agreed to join the prince's cause against Cornelia. There, they are surrounded by an army of House Rowe troops commanded by the knight Gwendal.

If Claude was sided with, he similarly marches to Ailell to meet Judith and her army, and is ambushed by Gwendal.

If the Church of Seiros was sided with, the Resistance Army will meet with Judith under identical circumstances.

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes[]

Ailell appears in the penultimate chapters of each of the game's three routes as the setting of an all-out battle, with specific circumstances and allegiances varying by the route. In all three routes, a march through Ailell is determined to be the best course for a final assault on Garreg Mach Monastery.
