Profile[]
Alcryst is the second prince of Brodia. He is the son of King Morion and younger brother of the Crown Prince, Diamant. He has Lapis and his cousin Citrinne as his retainers.
When news arrived at Brodia of the Divine Dragon Alear's impending arrival, Morion sent Alcryst and his retainers to meet them. At the border, Elusia had already begun attacking Brodia, thus Alcryst was put on high alert. When he eventually found them, he immediately fired a warning shot at Alear. However, after announcing themselves to the young Prince, Alcryst immediately approached them and began to grovel in front of them as he apologized for attacking them. As Alcryst guides Alear and their forces to Brodia Castle, an Elusian force lead by Princess Hortensia intercepts them, leading to a skirmish. Alcryst and his retainers lend their aid, successfully repelling the the Elusians.
Back at the castle, Alear meets King Morion who gives them a warm reception and praises his youngest son for safely guiding them. Suddenly, Brodia Castle is sieged by the Elusian Crown Princess Ivy. A fierce battle ensues with the Elusian forces repelled once more. A messenger appears shortly after, declaring that King Hyacinth wishes to duel Morion. Though clearly a trap, Morion's insistence on honor and courage leads him to meet the Hyacinth's challenge head on. Before leaving, he has a brief heart-to-heart with Alcryst, asking what he would do should he and Diamant ever die. Alcryst does not directly answer the question and instead states that he would do all he could to make sure the possibility never happens. Filled with pride, Morion charges into the battlefield. Unfortunately this leads to his subsequent defeat, capture, and death. Horrified by his father's death, Alcryst devotes all of his efforts for the remainder of the war supporting the Divine Dragon and upholding his promise to his father to support and protect Diamant.
Fell Xenologue[]
In an alternative Elyos, Alcryst took part in the war against the Fell Dragon Sombron, where his father and retainers were killed, leaving his older brother Diamant to take the throne. The feeling of losing those he loved most, combined with Diamant being unable to lead his people properly, drove Alcryst to become a cruel warden who rules over Brodia with an iron fist through Diamant, as his counsel, by forcing him to close the doors of the kingdom to the public to avoid further battle and to turn the kingdom into a fortress to defend itself.
Alcryst and Diamant agree to collect the Emblem Bracelets to use their power to make their kingdom invincible, thereby avoiding any possible attack, as well as to capture Nel so she may put them to sleep, in order to activate their power. After spotting Gregory, who had been spying on Brodia, they chase him to where Nel and Nil are and demand they hand over their bracelets, when they refuse, Alcryst forces Diamant to capture Nel and kill the rest and a fight breaks out between the groups.
Alear's army manages to defeat the Brodian royals and they take the Bracelet of the Lonely Heir from them, to which Alcryst refuses to give in and demands a second round, which Diamant immediately refuses as there is nothing they can do to win, leaving Alcryst to storm off in frustration as Diamant entrusts the safety of Brodia to Nel and Nil.

Later that night however, Nel invades Brodia castle and interrogates the brothers about the attack on Lythos Castle, to which they have no knowledge of. Nel then kills Alcryst, shortly before killing Diamant as well.
Later, it is revealed that Alcryst, as well as a majority of the population had been corrupted the entire time, having died in the war, unaware of their condition.
After Nil has obtained the seven Emblem Bracelets, he revives Alcryst a second time, wielding the Bracelet of the Shepherd Exalt, he later dies a second time, unsatisfied with what he's become.
Personality[]
Alcryst is apologetic to a fault and compares himself unfavorably to his exceptional brother, carrying a negative personality. He is self-deprecating over the slightest perceived inconvenience he creates and carries such low-self esteem that he vocally considers himself useless. He can be self-sacrificing on the battlefield, stating that it would be better for him to take the place of others on the front lines, despite being a bow specialist. Much of this can be attributed to growing up among people who compared him unfavorably to Diamant, leading him to believe they spoke the truth. Despite this, he worships his older brother and they have a close relationship.
Usually through gentle understanding or by piquing his interest, Alcryst is quite sociable and does carry the fortitude of royalty. Once he has moved past his self-loathing, he is a kindhearted soul and can achieve great things once motivated. While he often focuses on his own perceived lack of good qualities, he is perceptive to his allies best traits, often ones that they themselves do not see. He's also very self-aware of his problems, though more in the sense of how they might be a liability to his peers than the detriment they pose to his well-being.
He admires both King Morion and Diamant, both of which he shares a strong familial bond with. Both in turn gently support Alcryst and help him to see his true value as a prince and warrior. Since he carries no desire to rule Brodia, he is a stalwart supporter of both of them. When Morion questioned Alcryst about what he would do should he and Diamant die, Alcryst responds that he will fight will all his power so such a possibility could not happen. Alcryst also is very close to his retainers Lapis and Citrinne. Due in part to his negativity, he has a protective streak for both, forcing both to remind him that he is the liege and they are the retainers.
Alcryst also has a more ruthless and less forgiving side, though it's rare. This is most prominently displayed in his initial interactions with Ivy, whom he resents for her role in his father's death. However, when she apologizes, he makes an effort to overcome his anger. Overall, he's very forward with his emotions, wearing his heart on his sleeve.
According to his groom variant in Heroes, Alcryst is skilled with stringed instruments, suggesting talent with music. His supports with Pandreo also imply he's a good dancer, if not self-conscious about it.
Fell Xenologue Alcryst[]
In the alternate Elyos, Alcryst is openly contemptuous of his brother and considers himself to be better suited as the king of Brodia. He is much more confident than his main timeline counterpart and shows resolute hostility towards the Fell Dragon siblings' attempt to peacefully reclaim Brodia's bracelet. The deaths of his retainers haunts him deeply and is partially the reason behind his bitter behavior, as he considers himself a failure for being unable to save them, and refuses to feel that way ever again.

After being revived a second time, Alcryst appears to be in denial of his condition, believing that he still deserves to be King. After being defeated, he believes himself to be a disgrace and apologizes to Diamant for his actions.

Alcryst is the second Bow specialist provided in the game. With excellent base Dexterity and Dexterity growth coupled with reasonable Speed growth, he functions well as a pure Archer with very accurate attacks against most targets. His Strength growth and base are lower than his closest direct competitor Etie, especially when factoring in his default and unique promoted Class, but this is largely made up for by his Personal Skill, Get Behind Me!, which provides +3 Strength for one turn whenever an ally within two spaces is attacked. This skill is very easy to trigger, and helps Alcryst to contribute reliable chip damage and overcome health thresholds he otherwise would not be able to. In other respects, he is a typical archer - mediocre HP, Defense and Resistance mean he does not take damage well, and requires support to shield him from enemy fire, though being a Covert unit, he can utilize cover very well to dodge attacks.
Starting as a Lord, Alcryst's unique promotion is Tireur d'élite, which remains bow-locked but gives him access to the level 5 class Luna, which lets him ignore half of his opponent's Defense and Resistance when he attacks, with a trigger chance dependent on his Dexterity. Combined with his innately very high Dexterity, Luna can proc surprisingly often to deliver enormous bursts of damage, and scales very well with mechanics that can apply multiple hits, such as Follow-Up Attacks, a Brave Bow, or Astra Storm. If this class is not used, he usually prefers other bow-centric classes such as Sniper or Warrior, the latter of which also allows him to participate in Chain Attacks, though Alcryst is nothing unique in this regard.
For Emblem Rings, Alcryst prefers offensive rings to double-down on his player phase-focused gameplay. The Ring of the Lady of the Plains is a natural fit for him to boost his speed and Critical hit rate, as well as the aforementioned synergy between Astra Storm and Luna if he is promoted. The Ring of the Azure Twins is an alternative that gives him access to Lunar Brace and additional raw damage. The S-rank Claude Bond Ring also works well on him, in particular by allowing him to outrange most opponents with a Brave Bow or for longer range chain attacks if he is reclassed to a Backup unit.
Overall, Alcryst is a solid early archer who can contribute on most maps despite bow users' inherent flaws, and he is generally a much better target for investment than Etie before him. With some effort and assistance from Luna procs and crits, he will continue to efficiently deal with flying units and deliver entertainingly high, if inconsistent, damage output well into the end of the game, making him an acceptable choice for end-game team slots.

Base Kit[]
Alcryst is a Rearmed Colorless Infantry Bow and the second Rearmed unit to wield a bow overall. As such, he is a valuable funnel unit to spread premium skills mainly to other Bow units in the game. On his own, Alcryst is an extremely fast offensive unit with a blistering 46 Spd and a hard hitting 43 Atk. While he trades this for a middling 69 physical bulk and low 63 magical bulk, Alcryst is best left as an offensive powerhouse to demolish enemies.
The Arcane Darkbow allows him to charge his special with one less attack and deals effective damage to fliers as all bows do. If he has at least 25% HP at the start of combat, he gains +6 Atk/Spd, neutralizes any penalties on him, and neutralizes foe's skills that prevent his follow-ups. Also if he initiates, he can perform his follow-up before his foe counters.
Get Behind Me! is Alcryst's unique skill that inflicts -5 Spd/Def on his foe during combat, inflicts a 30% reduction to their Def, and neutralizes any effect that slows down his special charge during combat so long as he is either within two spaces of an ally or he initiates combat.
Deadeye doubles the damage Alcryst deals and disables percentage reducing skills of his foe that are not a Special Skill. Flash Sparrow grants +7 Atk/Spd if he initiates and grants additional cooldown charges per attack if he has at least 5 more Spd than his foe during combat. Defense Resistance Smoke inflicts -7 Def/Res on his target and foes within two spaces of his target after combat and also grants him【Pathfinder】, allowing the tile space he occupies to become a 0 move cost tile for his allies.
Counters[]
Alcryst's low mixed bulk leaves him vulnerable to mainly melee ranged units since he innately carries no means to counter at that range. He is also strongest during his turn as he gains more advantages if he initiates combat or is within range of his allies, thus isolating him further hampers his debuffs from his personal skill. Any sort of unit that can maintain a Windsweep-like effect can also safely engage on him as he has no means of preventing such effects in his kit.
Skill Inheritance[]
Alcryst's sole missing skill is a Support skill, thus Draw Back keeps an ally between him and the enemy for a great budget skill.
Alcryst's base kit already has incredible value for skill inheritance for other bow users since he already has Deadeye in his kit. Flared Sparrow for his Skill A lets him create Flame Divine Veins. Attack Speed Oath is an excellent replacement for his Skill C to give him more Atk/Spd and a self-Guidance effect and many other Bow users can appreciate the skill as well. Generally, Alcryst can inherit as many applicable inheritable skills as his unit type allows and then spread it to other units so careful planning and a multitude of merges can allow him to greatly increase the potency of other bow units. Some skills worth considering for other units include Tier 4 Lull skills and Deadly Miasma.
Alcryst's Arcane Darkbow is best suited to be given to high Spd Bow units, thus making the likes of Etie, Kiragi, and Dorothy excellent budget units who sync well with the weapon due to their innate base stats and having no preferred weapon at the time of Alcryst's release and whose innate weapons are subpar at best. Their low rarity means that they are easier to acquire copies for merging and all of Alcryst's skills would require premium inheritances.
