Arena Ferox is a new stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. It takes place on a platform in the middle of the arena with edges on both sides, making it an aerial stage. The design of the stage floor matches the original map from Fire Emblem Awakening.

Arena Ferox is a dynamic stage, since its main gimmick are the platforms that take different forms at various times of the match, similarly to the Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2 stages from previous games of the Super Smash Bros. series. There are four different variations of the stage: the basic form has four platforms, the bottom one being raised by a plank and the other three of which are pass-through platforms suspended from the ceiling by chains; the second variation has two statues holding up three pass-through platforms, similarly to the second area of Castle Siege from Super Smash Bros. Brawl; the third variation showing multiple floating platforms, three of which can be passed through while the other two are solid; and the final variation showing a pass though platform at the far-right, a solid platform in the middle and a moving platform at the left, which moves in a rectangle shape by a mechanism.

The Final Destination variation of Arena Ferox is mostly unchanged, although it does not shift form at all, instead taking place entirely on the flat arena.

Arena Ferox is the setting for Captain Falcon, Lucina, and Robin's reveal trailer, "By Book, Blade, and Crest of Flame." Lucina's unlock match also takes place here.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Arena Ferox returns as a playable stage in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Lucina's unlock match takes place here, like before, and Chrom's now does as well.

Trivia

  • Arena Ferox was the first location in the entire Fire Emblem franchise to have a stage based from it in the Super Smash Bros. series. Castle Siege and Coliseum have no fixed locations associated with them.
  • According to the official website, the arena is underground, being the reason why a light can be see coming from above. This is in order to shelter themselves from Ferox's snow.
