Attack Speed is the value used to determine whether or not a unit within combat will perform a double attack against its opposing foe. It uses the SPD stat for calculation, of which the equation varies throughout the series. This statistic is not listed in the user interface, but is calculated at the onset of battle, taking into consideration the SPD rating of both parties. For more on the speed statistic, see Speed (stat).

Description[edit | edit source]
In combat, each participating unit has their own Attack Speed (AS) value. Should one of the unit's AS exceed the other's AS by a certain threshold value, then the unit with the greater AS may perform a double attack. This threshold value may vary between games. Additionally, there are various factors (e.g., weapon weight, skills) that influence a unit's AS; these factors may vary between games as well.
Calculations[edit | edit source]
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥1 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Wt) Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight
Fire Emblem Gaiden[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥1 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Wt) Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight
Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥3 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Wt) Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War[edit | edit source]
In order for a unit to perform a double attack in this game, they must possess the Pursuit skill and have an AS value greater than the other's by ≥1 point. Otherwise, the unit will only perform single-action attacks.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Wt) Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined based on their equipped weapon.
If the user attacks with a physical weapon:
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Con); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Con = value of the given unit's constitution
If the user attacks with a magic-based weapon:
AS = (Speed) - (Wt) Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Con); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Con = value of the given unit's constitution
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Con); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Con = value of the given unit's constitution
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Con); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Con = value of the given unit's constitution
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Str); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Str = value of the given unit's strength
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Str); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Str = value of the given unit's strength
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - (Str); negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Str = value of the given unit's strength
Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) Speed = value of the given unit's speed
Fire Emblem Awakening[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥5 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) Speed = value of the given unit's speed
Fire Emblem Fates[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥5 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) + (Effects from skills) + (Effects from weapons) Speed = value of the given unit's speed
Various skills and weapons provide effects that modify attack speed exclusively, although their in-game descriptions may seem to suggest that they modify the user's speed stat. Any descriptions regarding "effective speed" or "eff. speed" are referring to attack speed.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses[edit | edit source]
When a unit's AS value is greater than the other's by ≥4 point, then they will perform a double attack.
The AS value for a given unit is determined by the formula shown below.
AS = (Speed) - (Burden) Burden = (Wt) - [(Str)/5]; negative Burden values are set to 0 Speed = value of the given unit's speed Wt = value of unit's equipped weapon's weight Str = value of the given unit's strength
