Aymr is an Axe that debuts in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Despite its appearance, it is not considered part of the Heroes' Relics, but instead a Crest Stone weapon that was designed specifically for Edelgard's use.

Non-Canon Appearances[]

Super Smash Bros.[]

Aymr appears as one of the four weapons wielded by Byleth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Aymr is used as Byleth's downward aerial, downward smash attack, and downward special.

While Aymr has short range, it boasts great power. As Byleth's downward special, it automatically breaks the target's shield, while the downward smash attack has great shield damage properties, and the downward aerial has sweetspot spike frames.

Etymology[]

Aymr is named after the magical weapon in Ugaritic mythology, Aymur, meaning "Driver". It was one of the two weapons given to Baal to defeat Yam.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being linked to the Crest of Seiros, the Crest Stone embedded in Aymr is engraved with either the Crest of Gautier (concept art and Three Hopes) or the Crest of the Beast (in-game).
  • Despite its similarities in appearance and in-game abilities, Aymr is not considered part of the Heroes' Relics and is simply called a "Crest Stone weapon".
    • Linhardt explains that in legends, more weapons were created during the War of Heroes beyond the Relics of the Ten Elites that have since been lost in history. While this more directly implicates the existence of other Heroes' Relics like Vajra-Mushti, Fetters of Dromi, and Hrotti, Aymr may also fall within this category.
    • Another possibility is that Those Who Slither in the Dark fabricated the weapon, as they are known to be able to create replica Heroes' Relics. This is supported by the fact that it requires Agarthium to repair, unlike the traditional Relics, which need Umbral Steel.
  • In Engage, Byleth and Edelgard's Aymrs are palette swaps of one another, with Byleth's being mostly gold and Edelgard's being mostly magenta.
