The Bael(バール) are a species seen only in the game Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. A bael is a breed of giant, mutant-like spiders plaguing the continent of Magvel after the Demon King, Fomortiis, is awakened. They are slow and powerful, have the ability to cross mountain squares, and can attack with Sharp, Poisonous, or Lethal talons/claws. The promoted breed of the Bael is an Elder Bael. It is weak against any light magic wielded by a bishop due to the bishop class ability Slayer. It is also weak against any sacred twin weapon except the Grado dark tome Gleipnir.

“Giant poison spiders. They roam the mountains, attacking with deadly venom.”
—In-game description from The Sacred Stones.

The Bael (バール Bāru) is an enemy-only Monster class that is exclusive to Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. A breed of gargantuan spiders that is enlarged through the interference of fell magic, Baels employ their pincers and claws to inflict damage on their foes.

Profile

Baels are first seen in Chapter 6, where the boss of the chapter, Novala, holds Renais citizens hostage in order to force Eirika to give up her Bracelet. He mentions that there are "giant spiders" that prey on humans lurking in the area. These spiders turn out to be a group of Baels that emerge and attempt to kill the hostages if the player does not intervene.

Overview

Combat

Baels are powerful yet lack Speed, and have the ability to cross mountainous terrain. The promoted breed of the Bael is the Elder Bael. Like all other Monster classes, Baels are vulnerable to the Bishop's Slayer skill and the Sacred Twin weapons.

Like most Monster classes, Baels usually suffer from low Hit Rates. However, they have much more Might as compared to most other Monsters like the Bonewalkers and Revenants, a fact that renders their attacks to be potentially lethal when they successfully strike.
