“Perhaps the final project in a bow-making class?”
—In-game description from Fates.

The Bamboo Yumi is a Yumi that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. A joke Yumi that is fashioned entirely of bamboo and which lacks a complementary quiver, the Bamboo Yumi, apart from raising its wielder's Resistance by 2, increases his/her ability to evade critical attacks.

Etymology[]

Yumi is the kun'yomi reading for the Chinese character gōng (弓), which in Japanese on'yomi is pronounced as kyūWakyu (和弓) translates to "Japanese Bow", the kanji which is pronounced wa in on'yomi and kazu in kun'yomi is borrowed from the Chinese hé (和), which means "harmonious" or "harmony".

Trivia[]

  • The appearance of the Bamboo Yumi in-game is actually an error, as the model directory was improperly assigned. The error causes weapons to take the appearance of standard bronze/brass weapons, hence why the Bamboo Yumi looks like a Brass Yumi in-game. This trait is shared with the Harp Yumi, Sidelong Yumi, Caltrop, Rinkah's Club, and Robin's Primer (The Spell animation instead of Model.)
