The Black Knight is an unused class that was developed to an unknown extent to for Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Virtually identical to the Great Knight class, the existence of the Black Knight class is only made known through its concept artwork. The main difference between this class and the Great Knight class is the fact that while the latter can only equip Axes, the Black Knight's concept art depicts it wielding Lances.

Enemy Great Knights such as Schmidt use a black color scheme that is identical to the Black Knight concept artwork, suggesting that they may originally have been planned to be Black Knights.
