Etymology[edit | edit source]

Blutgang was a sword used by the Germanic hero Heime (also known as Hama in Old English or Heimir in Old Norse). In the Middle High German Epic Dietrich cycle he breaks the sword upon the helmet of the King Theodoric the Great.

Blutgang's name is composed of the words "Blut" meaning "blood" and "Gang" meaning "walk" or "stride", though together the term translates to "blood errand" or "blood flow".

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Blutgang is the only Hero's Relic that does not have a dark version used during For the Freedom of Fódlan, likely because Maurice never died and could not be resurrected for the fight.
    • There is, however, an unused Dark Blutgang that is present within the game's code.
