Blutgang is a sword that first appears in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and is one of the Heroes' Relics. It is linked to the Crest of The Beast.

Overview[]

Blutgang is a lost Hero's Relic once wielded by Maurice, the eleventh Elite who served Nemesis, the King of Liberation. However, he overtaxed his weapon and Crest in one battle, and Blutgang fused with him and transformed him into the Wandering Beast, and feasted on those foolish enough to wander in his territory for well over a millennium, condemning his descendants to scorn and hatred, due to the spreading of an untrue curse that his descendants would also transform into demonic beasts.

Etymology[]

Blutgang was a sword used by the Germanic hero Heime (also known as Hama in Old English or Heimir in Old Norse). In the Middle High German Epic Dietrich cycle he breaks the sword upon the helmet of the King Theodoric the Great.

Blutgang's name is composed of the words "Blut" meaning "blood" and "Gang" meaning "walk" or "stride", though together the term translates to "blood errand" or "blood flow".

Trivia[]

  • Blutgang is the only Hero's Relic that does not have a dark version used during For the Freedom of Fódlan, likely because Maurice never died until Marianne's paralogue and could therefore not be resurrected for the fight.
    • There is, however, an unused Dark Blutgang that is present within the game's code.
