The Bow Armor is a variation of Knight introduced in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. As their name implies, they exclusively wield bows.
History in the series
Bow Armor debuts in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War alongside Sword Armor and Axe Armor. No Bow Armors within the game were recruitable, with only Sword Armors being available to the player's army.
Bow Armors returned in the direct follow up Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. While Axe Armors became playable in Thracia 776, Bow Armors remained unplayable.
While Axe Armors and Sword Armors returned in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Bow Armors did not.
Overview
In both of their appearances, Bow Armors have the same stats (base, max, and growths) as the other Armor variations, and should be treated similarly. They have very high Defense, and Attack, but low Speed, and Resistance. Like Archers, they cannot counterattack melee attackers.
Promotion
While unplayable in all their appearances, and in games where promotion is in the game data linked to playable characters, Bow Armors can be assumed to promote to General which can use Bows in all the games Bow Armors appeared in. Several enemy units such as Lobos in Thracia 776 have weapon ranks indicating they promoted from Bow Armor.
