“He's very important to me. And the world... But mostly to me. So do as I ask, Ogma. Keep him safe. That's my first and last request.”
—Caeda to Ogma about Marth in Shadow Dragon.

Caeda is a playable character from the Archanea Series of Fire Emblem. She is the pure-hearted princess of Talys, daughter of King Mostyn, and a childhood friend and later wife of Marth.

Profile[]

Background[]

At some point of time before the events of Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light take place, Caeda, age 10, while exploring the streets of Knorda, chanced upon the local arena, where she bore witness to Ogma being whipped for having aided in the escape of his fellow gladiator Samuel. Midway through Ogma's torment, Caeda embraced his back and used her body as a shield to prevent the tormentors from continuing to mete out Ogma's punishment. Shortly after her act of heroism, she purchased Ogma from the arena owner and appointed him as one of her personal bodyguards, granting him the opportunity to escape from his wretched life as a gladiator.

War of Shadows[]

Caeda makes her first formal appearance in Chapter 1 of Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, where she, in a frenzied state of panic, flies to the eastern fortress that Marth has taken up residence in on the island nation of Talys. There, she urgently seeks his assistance in eradicating a group of Galder Pirates besieging the castle. After Marth and his loyal retainers succeed in fulfilling her request, she then joins him on his conquest to bring the War of Shadows to an end. Along the way, Caeda proves to be instrumental in recruiting several characters to Marth's cause, including Castor, Navarre, Roger, Jake and Lorenz. Following the conclusion of the war, Caeda is engaged to Marth as his fiancée, and she returns to Talys with the purpose of visiting her father.

Upon setting foot onto the island, however, Caeda is thrust into the mire of conflict, as the local clans, learning of her engagement with Marth, seize the opportunity to revolt. The events of Downloadable Episode 3 in New Mystery of the Emblem are thereafter spurred, where Ogma leads Bord and Cord on a mission to rescue Caeda. Midway through the ensuing battle, however, Ogma is ambushed by Navarre, who intends on settling an old score through a duel. Caeda later enters the scene with Norne, whereupon she rushes to Ogma's aid by convincing Navarre to defect to her cause. After the remainder of the hostile stragglers are routed, Caeda will tearfully depart from Ogma after expressing her heartfelt gratitude towards him for his devout loyalty, thereafter settling down in Altea Castle with Marth.

War of Heroes[]

Chronologically, Caeda reappears in Prologue III of New Mystery of the Emblem, where she assists Cain in training the 7th Platoon. After being bested by the 7th Platoon, she then proceeds to aid them until they are recognized as full-fledged knights at the end of Prologue VIII. After the harrowing encounter with Eremiya's assassins in the same chapter, Caeda seeks an audience with Kris, where she requests that they remain steadfastly by Marth's side and protect him from coming to harm.

As the day of Caeda's wedding with Marth draws near, a request from Emperor Hardin for Marth to quell a supposed rebel uprising in Grust arrives in Altea. Forced to postpone the wedding as a result, Marth sets out to fulfil the request, while Caeda remains behind to keep watch over Altea Castle alongside Cain. Shortly after Marth sets out, the combined might of Gra and Aurelis besieges Altea, rapidly seizing control of the country. In an act of selflessness, Marth's sister, Elice, elects to surrender in place of Caeda, urging her to escape and reunite with Marth. Caeda succeeds in doing so at the end of Chapter 4 in Holm Beach, where she relays the grim news before taking up arms to fight alongside him. She then accompanies him on his campaign to bring the War of Heroes to an end, recruiting several personages into Marth's army along the way, including Samuel, Roger and Jake. After the conclusion of the war, Caeda finally marries Marth, and she is said to resemble an angel in her wedding dress. She would rule alongside Marth as the new Queen of Archanea.

In an alternative ending, in which Caeda dies at some point during the story, a new ending occurs with Marth and Nyna discussing how the Curse of Artemis affected him when Nyna gave him the Fire Emblem. This is a non-canon ending in the grand scheme of future due to the nature of Fire Emblem Awakening.

Awakening[]

Caeda was among the many combatants in the War of Shadows whose legacy endured over 2000 years into the present timeline of Awakening. Many Pegasus Knights of Ylisse idolize her and see her as a model Pegasus Knight, both remembered for her strength, kindness, and ability to sway enemies into Marth's army. The First Exalt is said to have had a bride who was a Pegasus Knight who wielded a Spear with Wings on it, much like Caeda once did.

Personality[]

Caeda is a stalwart princess who trained to be a Pegasus Knight in order to actively contribute to Talys, rather than spend her days holed up in the castle. Many characters note Caeda's remarkable intelligence evident from a young age, making her a valuable asset both on and off the battlefield. Most notable is her charisma and honest disposition that made her an effective diplomat and has dissolved smaller conflict with her words alone. Caeda prefers to resolve problems peacefully, seeing conflict as a last resort. Caeda can appeal to even the hardest of hearts like Navarre, convincing them to join Marth's army. She has been shown to be quite politically adept, as seen in her recruit conversation with Lorenz. She also has something of a cunning streak, effectively employing her charm and beauty to sway the hearts of enemies, sometimes into outright joining Marth's cause.

Caeda enjoys cooking and proves to be a patient teacher in the art of cooking. She shows incredible tact in consoling Kris for their disastrous ineptness and displays supportive guidance. Caeda's empathy allows her to look beyond preconceived notions of people based on their past as she believes in second chances and redemption. Her relationship with Ogma best illustrates this point as she personally knighted him despite his past as a barbaric gladiator. She also appears to develop a sisterly bond with Marisha, choosing not to shatter her new friend's dreams of marrying Marth by revealing that he's already engaged to her.

When the situation mandates a need for Caeda to be serious however, she can be gravely so, a fact that sees her risking her safety in many a battlefield in order to seek reinforcements to turn the tide of battle in her favor, as is the case when she escapes her home castle in Talys during a Galder Pirate invasion. Bolstering her battlefield tactics, Caeda has been portrayed to be extremely perceptive and to possess a sharp memory.

Caeda has held affections for Marth for years which blossoms into a mutual love between the two over the course of Shadow Dragon and the two are engaged by the events of Mystery of the Emblem. It is due to this love that she was compelled to join his cause, seeking to assist him in any way she can. Though Marth is concerned for her safety, Caeda retorts that she refuses to be left behind and feels more at peace fighting at his side. Her protectiveness even led Caeda to personally request that Ogma focus on protecting Marth rather than herself.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Caeda is among your best starting units in Shadow dragon and the Blade of light, possessing perfect availability and being your only flier until Minerva in Chapter 10. Flier utility is not what it is in future games, however, with its only advantage being unhindered movement over Cavaliers. The pegasus knight class also has 8 movement, but is unfortunately one less than the aforementioned Cavaliers. Unhindered movement is still very useful, allowing higher versatility over other units, such as hit and runs.

Caeda's bases, like most pegasus knights, lean towards speed. Her growths are extremely good, almost always getting an increase in skill, speed and luck. However, her growths are also lopsided, with her defense and strength being low, her base str also reflecting that. Her low damage is mitigated by her weapon level, which lets her use Jagen's silver lance at base, allowing her to potentially one round weaker enemies with minimal investment. However, there is competition for the silver lance during the early game:

Abel: Despite not being able to use the silver lance at base, his high growth of 70 in weapon level and being one away means he could potentially wield it within the first chapter, with better strength and good enough speed to use it. However, he typically continues to function fine without it, whilst Caeda needs it.

Jagen: With enough speed and str to wield it himself, Jagen also is highly capable with the silver lance. However, he will likely kill with the silver lance equipped, which not all players might want him to do if they wish to train Cain as well. Despite his archetype being renowned, his starting stats are barely superior to Abel, with his only significant lead being in skl, which abel has a very high 50% in.

So Caeda's early game is very solid, so long as she receives Jagen's silver lance. However, she still retains a low defence and weakness to arrows, something which should be looked out for.

Caeda's solid lead will soon be damaged, however, with the joining of Miverva in chapter 10. A pre-promoted flier with solid bases, 10 movement and a levin sword (set 7 damage per hit for reliability), Minerva can prove to be very valuable. This is further backed by solid growths and promoted units still gaining exp normally. What this means for Caeda is the loss of a niche, only remaining relevant due to her far higher speed and skill than Minerva. Despite her good growth in it, Minerva has low base speed, meaning a speedwing has to be invested into her if she is to see use, which could also damage Bantu's prospects.

Something else to note is the scarcity of Dragon whips (flier promotion item), with only two available (Disincluding ch23 secret shop), dropping at chapters 19 and 21 respectively. Since Catria and Palla are also viable units, you always have to pick between the three, making the others lose out on the much needed strength and defence bonus. On the other hand, both Catria and Palla have respectable strength growths, meaning they may not need the strength bonus at all, leaving it open for Caeda. Either way, the lategame promotion and competition does hurt Caeda.

Overall, Caeda is a reliable unit and often a staple of many teams, often one rounding and dodging most attacks for the entirety of the game. Despite her multiple flaws, she is still very viable, with some being easy to patch with the use of an energy ring, or prioritising her over the other pegasus knights of the game.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Caeda is one of the best units in Shadow Dragon, due primarily to a single massive factor: her personal weapon, the Wing Spear. The Wing Spear, similarly to the Rapier, boasts triple-effective damage against cavalry and armored enemies, but unlike the Rapier, it has significantly greater base Might, and does not face weapon triangle disadvantage against lance-wielding enemies (which, in Shadow Dragon, makes up the vast majority of them). More importantly, the Wing Spear is the single best choice to be turned into a forged weapon, as every point of Might forged into the weapon will triple as well; with a +6 boost, the Wing Spear is the equivalent of a 42-might weapon. Not only are armored and cavalry units very common among the enemy roster, but they make up more than half of the game's bosses. Add in Caeda's gigantic base Speed of 12 and her 85% growth, and she will nearly always double them. This makes Caeda into a bosskiller par excellence, able to one-round even the most powerful armored and cavalry bosses on even the highest difficulties. In the lategame, she can switch to wielding a Dragonpike instead, letting her take on dragon and wyvern bosses.

Another major factor to Caeda's usefulness is her class, and by extension, her promotion. Caeda is the player's first flier, and therefore, their most mobile unit by far, which makes her excellent at rushing on ahead to take down powerful enemies, or utilizing terrain such as mountains to stay out of the enemy line of fire. The only characters who can surpass her mobility early on are Jagen or Wendell reclassed into Dracoknight. Caeda is somewhat frail at base (though she can usually survive a single hit), and her Strength is very low, limiting her if she is not wielding an effective weapon. However, when promoted into a Dracoknight, Caeda gains a sizeable boost to HP, Defense, and Strength, along with the ability to wield axes, which will make her a competent fighter even to the endgame. Caeda is weak to arrows and similar weapons, but owing to the existence of reclassing, she can be turned into a Paladin if the player fears her being shot down, and even maintain her lance rank in the process.

In all, Caeda is a vital character who makes some of the best use of Shadow Dragon's mechanics. Though not without her issues, her combination of speed, class, and personal weapon will make her a central part of any strategy aiming to finish the game quickly.

Base Set[]

Statwise, Caeda is subpar mainly due to the fact that she has one of the lowest base Atk stats in the entire game. Fortunately for her, she is saved by high Spd and high enough Res to resist Ploy users. Caeda is most proficient against dragon units as well due to her Res and with many Dragons now being armored as well, her damage potential has increased, making her a threat against several top tier dragon units.

The low Atk is a sore spot, not helped by her initial weapon Armorslayer, which has a decent stat and can deal effective damage against armor units, but still keeps it at a 37 average. However, she received a boost when her Wing Sword became available, bringing her Atk to a workable 41, but also adding on cavalry effectiveness on top of armor slaying, allowing a wider range of units that she can often kill in a single round. When refined, she gains a Flashing Blade effect, accelerating her special cooldown when she has higher speed than her opponent. Her refinement makes her a speed threat and can easily take full advantage over several common units in the arenas, especially if she has a Boon in the stat.

Her base kit includes Rally Speed a decent support skill, but ultimately power crept by stronger, advanced versions of the same skill. Darting Blow increases her already high Spd, allowing her to ensure she achieves her refined weapon's cooldown or simply secure a double. Fortify Fliers grants a huge boost to the defensive stats of adjacent flying allies at the start of the player's turn, giving her a natural supportive option for flier teams.

Counters[]

As a standard flier, Caeda is vulnerable to bows, thus common bow units like Brave Lyn, Klein and Legendary Alm can instantly shoot her down. Her low Atk leaves her little room to contest bulky blues such as Shiro, Nephenee, and Tana. Certain blue armors can potentially survive a hit, such as Fallen Hardin and Effie, but Caeda can threaten them if they are sufficiently weakened.

Skill Inheritance[]

Reposition is the best supportive option as Caeda can move allies around her and on a flier team, this is a crucial skill. Iceberg pairs nicely with her high Res though Moonbow can be a serviceable option as well given that the def reduction is useful. Fury gives her a nice flat stat boost and the small damage after combat serves to fuel Desperation to ensure follow-up attacks immediately when initiating. While not completely necessary, Caeda can run Ploy skills, especially Speed Ploy as that will help her achieve the Flashing Blade effect of her refined Wing Sword.

Bridal Caeda is a typical offensive oriented mage. While her Atk is a bit on the lower side, she makes up for this with her high Spd and respectable Res, leaving her as a powerful Mage dueling unit that can secure double against certain enemies while avoiding them from others. Her physical bulk is on the low side, but ideally she will want to avoid these type of units anyways.

Blessed Bouquet grants a +2 Def/Res buff to any ally within two spaces of her after she initiates combat, giving an ally the ability to tank hits slightly better and allow Caeda to initiate, then have an ally pull her away so they can handle the enemy phase. Iceberg is a natural fit for her high Res and is her best special option. Atk/Res 2 is a flat +2 increase to Atk and Res, but there are better skill options out there. Hone Speed grants adjacent allies a +4 Spd boost at the start of the player's turn, which is a good support option.

Counters[]

Running Bridal Caeda's physical bulk is the fastest way to kill her, leaving her vulnerable to a host of units in the green and blue pools and several common archer units a s well. Common green units, including Hector and Fallen Male Robin who carries Distant Counter in some form, allows them to immediately retaliate and destroy her with ease. High Res Green units like Sheena, Julia, and Myrrh can resist a hit and retaliate. Green Dragons in particular can exploit her lower Def when attacking due to her lower.

Skill Inheritance[]
Ultimately, Bridal Caeda would rather have a tome that boosts her offensive potential, which makes Blárblade an excellent option so she can get buffed and demolish a target. Draw Back allows Caeda to pull allies out of danger while Ardent Sacrifice can be chosen to push her into Desperation range. Primarily, Bridal Caeda should be a player turn character so Swift Sparrow is a go option to maximize this while Fury is a good budget option for the consistent flat stat increase and the slow damage to get her into Desperation range. Finally, she can run a host of skills for her C Slot, but she is an effective Ploy skill user.

Base Set[]

Young Caeda, ironically, is a superior version of her older, original form in nearly every aspect as a Sword Flier. She has an impressive 42 Spd that can reach a blistering 46 if it is her asset. While her 33 Atk may seem a bit low, her weapon easily addresses this. While her Def and Res are mediocre at best, her kit simply renders these inconsequential in the long run. Rivaling even the mighty Altina, Young Caeda is easily one of the strongest Sword Fliers in the game.
Her Feather Sword gives her +3 Atk, essentially making the weapon 19 Mt. However, its most interesting feature is its effective damage effect whenever she battles any armor foe or a foe who wields a sword, lance, axe, or colorless bow, making her a powerful check to a huge portion to the cast, even checking lance units who should normally be her counter. Interestingly, if the foe initiates combat and if they're any of aforementioned unit types stated or if she is has no more than 75% of her current HP, she gains a Vantage effect.
She also has a unique passive Skill B Belief in Love. If either her opponent initiates combat on her or if they are at full health at the start of combat, she instantly inflicts Atk/Def -5 during combat, making her surprisingly tanky and even more hard hitting than she may initially seem to be.
Though she may be vulnerable to bows, Distant Counter allows her check ranged foes and in that weapon's case, she can kill them with Feather Sword's effect before they can even use their own effective damage. Moonbow perfectly compliments her kit to further increase her damage output even against the most hardy of enemies. Joint Hone Attack gives her an easy means to self buff herself and allies by increasing both her and her adjacent ally's Atk by 5 if she starts off her turn adjacent to an ally.

Counters[]

Dealing with Young Caeda is incredibly tricky due to her weapon. Weapons that can outright negate her ability to counterattack like Firesweep and Dazzling Staff removes most of the most looming threats. Colored bows also can avoid her effect, in particular blue ones like Legendary Lucina and Legendary Chrom who not only can exploit her flyer status but also use the color advantage. Strong beast units like Nailah and Naesala also do not activate her effects and has enough bulk to take a hit if needed. Hardy Bearing is also a problematic seal as it removes her ability to utilize her sword's vantage effect, especially if it is used on a colorless bow.

Skill Inheritance[]

Young Caeda's kit is near perfect and requires merely a support skill to finish her load out. Reposition is the standard best choice for her overall as a positioning assist. Skill C is flexible and can change out with Smoke skills, Wave skills, and even flier skills if seeking to use her as a powerful flier team unit.

Base Set[]

Summer Caeda is a Harmonized Hero accompanied by Plumeria as an Axe Cavalry unit. Because of her score boost for Resonant Battles, Summer Caeda is immediately useful to help players generate resources. As a unit, Summer Caeda boasts a potent 42 neutral Spd, allowing her to likely perform follow-up attacks. Her other stats are rather mediocre at best however, as her 33 neutral Atk is not quite as powerful at face value when compared to some of the extremely strong units released in the same Book as her. Even her mixed bulk scores 65 for physical and 67 for magical. Nonetheless, Summer Caeda has a ton of power thanks to her base kit and is extremely potent as an offensive unit.
Her resonance skill affects units from Mystery of the Emblem and Heroes original characters. It grants a special buff【Resonance: Blades】to both herself and units from the two source games, giving all valid units with the condition Atk/Spd+4. It also grants another action to the unit with the highest HP within two spaces of Summer Caeda and has already acted when the skill is activated, which can even affect units with Dance skills.
Dolphin-Dive Axe is reminiscent of her young form's Feather Sword as it deals effective damage against sword, lance, axe, colorless bow, and armor units, but also packs a ton of useful effects. It gives her a nice Atk+3 buff, bringing her to 49 Atk before visible buffs and in-combat buffs. If she either initiates combat or is within two spaces of an ally, she gains +5 to her four core stats. If she attacks, uses an assist skill, or destroys a structure, she has a【Canto (2)】effect, allowing he to move two spaces once per turn after performing such actions. While she cannot teleport using the skill, Summer Caeda excels at hit and run tactics and wit her effective damage, Summer Caeda can deal with a lot of threatening units and is a solid armor buster unit. Despite her rather low defenses, she can take a hit in some circumstances and immediately destroy her foe on the crack back.
Harsh Command+ neutralizes and penalties and negative status effects on the ally that she uses the skill on. If the ally had any stat penalties, she turns them into buffs of the same amount. Attack Speed Catch 4 grants Summer Caeda Atk/Spd+7 if she engages on a foe who is at 100% HP at the start of combat or has a stat penalty/negative status effect on them. If her foe is at 100% and has a penalty/negative status effect, she gains an additional Atk/Spd+2. Flow Refresh negates skill effects that prevent her from performing follow-up attacks and also restores 10 HP after combat. Panic Smoke inflicts【Panic】negative status on her foe and any foe within two spaces of her foe after combat, converting any visible stat buff into penalties.

Counters[]

Summer Caeda is safe from a lot of top tier threats, though attacking her with strong units that are not Sword, Lance, Axe, Colorless Bow or Armor units render's her Axe into a rather uninteresting weapon aside from raw stat buffs. Her biggest and most obvious vulnerability is to weapons that inflict effective damage on her as well, namely her Young form as she has color advantage, though only if her young form initiates combat. Micaiah and her various forms are solid counterpicks as her various forms are tome users. Her Festival, Brave, and Bridal forms are solid choices since the colors work especially for the former to her advantage.

Skill Inheritance[]

Summer Caeda's only empty slot is her Special skill, which Glimmer does nicely as she receives so much buffs, that the special can deal immense damage as a result. Giving her a positional assist like Reposition often fares better for utility in combat unless one is concerned more about arena scoring than performance.

Legendary Caeda is an impressive Flying Lance Water Blessed Legendary unit who boosts Water allies with HP+5 and Spd+3 during water seasons and can pair up. Her base 38 Atk and 43 Spd both cement her as a hard hitting and fast unit, while her mix bulk of 66 physical and 70 magical are workable to take a hit or two, but are not reliable for her to take consistent punishment. Nonetheless, she is a powerful asset due to her solid offense and high mobility as a flying unit.
Wing-Lifted Spear is innately strong against cavalry armor foes, making her effective against most problematic armor units like Arden, the Black Knight, and Pirate Surtr, and can instantly slay some powerful cavalry units as well like Brave Eliwood and Legendary Sigurd among others. Her base kit alone is not enough to defeat Fallen Edelgard without some set up or assistance, so she is not an end-all-do-all check for Armor units in general. It also has【Canto (2)】which allows her to move up to two spaces immediately after attacking a foe, using an Assist skill on an ally, or destroying a structure. Finally, if she either initiates combat or is within two spaces of an ally, she gains +5 to all four of her core stats in battle. Also, if her foe has visible buffs, she gains the same stat buffs for each stat and inflicts the same amount on her foe, ultimately taking overbuffed enemies and using that strength against them.
Faithful Loyalty is her unique Legendary skill which grants her the Vantage effect, regardless of her current health, allowing her to attack before her foe if they initiate combat against her and are either a Cavalry or Armor unit. She has Null Follow-Up as well, preventing her foe from canceling her ability to perform follow-up attacks. After combat, she also gains Vantage against all foes, regardless of their movement type, until her next turn.
Moonbow allows Legendary Caeda to ignore 30% of her foe's Def when it activates. Distant Storm is a new Distant Counter upgrade that is first introduced by her, allowing her to counterattack at range and if she has at least 25% HP at the start of her turn, she gains Atk+5 during combat at the cost of taking 5 non-lethal recoil damage after combat. Attack Defense Rein inflicts Atk/Def-4 on foes within two spaces of her during combat, which will also apply to her allies if they attack an enemy within the range of this skill.

Counters[]

Legendary Caeda is still vulnerable to Archers as they inflict effective damage against her. Some strong options however are susceptible to her Faithful Loyalty and Wing-Lifted Spear like Ascended Laegjarn, Legendary Leif, and Winter Marth, thus make poor counters. Notable Cavalry/Armor bow units that can actually defeat her without help are Scion Leif who has Miracle which can allow him to take her vantage first hit and then double attack her and Brave Lyn, whose Sacae's Blessing negates her ability to counterattack, though the Brave Lyn needs some investment to properly threaten her with a single round of attack or without help/protection. Other great options include both Brave and Legendary Claude (but not his base form), Shinon, Eleanora, Legendary Chrom, and Legendary Lucina, Shamir, Legendary Lyn, Pirate Hinoka, and Duo Dagr. Strong enough green units can also capitalize on her decent defenses assuming they have sufficient bulk or are not armor/cavalry units.

Skill Inheritance[]

Legendary Caeda's only empty skill slot is her assist, which Reposition is the standard. Her kit on its own is very effective in making her strong out of the gate and requires no real replacements unless trying to build her for a specific niche like focusing all on offense by replacing Distant Storm with any of the Atk/Spd boosting skills or replacing her special with Glimmer if putting her on a team that can buff her or Ruptured Sky for facing problematic dragon teams. Galeforce also works wonderfully on her, but she needs Heavy Blade to accelerate this.

Anime[]

Caeda plays a huge role in the anime, especially in Episode 1, which focuses on the relationship between her and Marth. She is portrayed to be rather feisty, especially when she catches Marth daydreaming. Her desire to protect Marth eventually gets her kidnapped by Gazzak, which almost gets both of them killed until Ogma's timely intervention saves the two. She then goes on to save her father, the King of Talys, from the Galder Pirates. After Marth saves Talys, he is forced to reluctantly leave Caeda, and she decides to follow him after her father insists that she do so, acknowledging her feelings for Marth.

Episode 2 sees Caeda argue against Marth's plan to cross Samsian territory, only to be told by Marth that he is well aware of the risks. There, she breaks up a fight between Ogma and Navarre, which leads to Navarre's recruitment and the victory over the bandits.

Manga[]

Caeda's role in the War of Shadows is further expanded in the manga adaptation, much more so than in the anime. Unlike the anime, Caeda's father disapproves of her seeing Marth at first, as he is concerned over the suspicions that may be raised with regards to Marth's social status as a noble. Again, Marth leaves Talys without her, but again she catches up with him.

Later, Caeda plays a rather significant role, as she heads off to the Aurelis Secondary Castle in order to notify Nyna and Hardin of Marth's arrival, but gets shot down en route. She fights on and manages to reach them, announcing Altea's devotion to Archanea. She then warns Hardin that her pegasus senses something fearful from the western skies before a battle breaks out soon after. Caeda almost dies protecting Nyna until Marth arrives on the scene and rescues the both of them. Throughout the rest of the story, Caeda continues to protect Marth, but never gains the courage to openly tell him that she loves him until much later. After the war, she leaves Talys to wed Marth and is crowned as the Queen of Altea.

Etymology[]

Caeda's Japanese name, Sheeda (シーダ), is ostensibly derived from the Persian name Sheida (‎شيدا) meaning "infatuation", the meaning of which contextualizes itself in relation to Caeda being Marth's love interest.

Her localized name, Caeda, is an alteration of a conjugated form of the Latin word caedo (caedam), meaning to "murder", "strike", or "defeat".

Trivia[]

  • Caeda shares her English voice actress, Cherami Leigh, with Gwendolyn, Cecilia in Fire Emblem Heroes, Emma in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Mae in both Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Heroes, and Rhea in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
  • As stated in her supports with Marisha, Caeda is not fond of sweet food. Despite this, in Fire Emblem Warriors, she had sweet food with Tiki in their support conversation ostensibly out of courtesy.
  • In Fire Emblem Warriors, Caeda states she is afraid of the dark and cannot sleep without her Pegasus nearby.
  • Like Lucius, Caeda appears using her secondary weapon (swords) instead of her main weapon (Lances) in Heroes. As such her personal weapon, the Wing Spear was removed and eventually replaced by the Wing Sword which functions similarly to the lance.
  • Caeda's DLC Bride artwork from Warriors shows her wielding the Wing Spear.
  • Caeda appears as a Sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the English version of the game, her name is localized as "Shiida".
