“Watch your mouth, boy! You're just a lowly servant, of mine! All right then, show me what you've got! I'll take you all on!”
—Dagdar, in Thracia 776

Dagdar is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. He is a reformed bandit, the leader of the Mount Violdrake Bandits, who went straight due to Eyvel's influence. He later went on to help found the Fiana Freeblades, a small band of outlaw do-gooders, mostly concerned with helping the knight Finn and the mysterious swordmaster Eyvel protect the exiled young Prince Leif.

He is the father of the tomboyish archer Tanya who also works for the Fiana Freeblades. He also serves as the father-figure to Marty, a dumb but good-natured ex-bandit. Due to Marty's ending title, it is speculated that Dagdar may have fatherly or even romantic feelings toward the young brigand. He is 45 years old.

If Dagdar dies, he will become the Deadlord Tigris.

He is considered to be in the Jagen Archetype meaning that he starts out great but has low growth rates. However, various factors make Dagdar efficient throughout the game.

Overview

During the first chapters of the game, Dagdar is practically invincible thanks to his high stats. However, he fits the Jagen Archetype, meaning that he has very low growths. In order to prepare for his return in Chapter 8x, it is recommended to end Chapter 3 with Dagdar possessing at least an Iron axe and a vulnerary, since he and his daughter Tanya are forced to fight several enemies alone for several turns.

Despite low growths, Dagdar's base stats are quite good. He has some of the highest base HP and Defense in the game, making him excellent for taking on enemies. His high strength as well as decent speed provide him with a great deal of offense power. While he may miss doubling the faster enemies, Dagdar has an extra advantage in Charge, which lets him activate another round of combat against most enemies. It also lets him drain ballistas and siege tome uses twice as fast, though the player should be careful to ensure that he does not die. He can use the Brave Axe, and later on the Master Axe, in order to improve his combat even further or reliably capture enemies. In situations where 2 range is necessary, he can use bows as well. Finally, he has a base movement of 7, which allows him to keep up even in outdoor maps.

Overall, Dagdar is an excellent character early on and remains useful throughout the game thanks to his good base stats. He is a solid pick should the player need another combat unit at any point in the game where he is available.
