A Knife is a weapon type. It is commonly a weak weapon used by thieves and assassins.
In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, daggers and knives are one in the same, both falling under the "knife" weapon type. They are the weakest close-quarters weapons, though they boast high critical hit ratios. They have a range of 1 space. The knife skill is neccesary to wield them.
In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, knives and daggers are separate weapons, though they remained within a single weapon type. Daggers remained as they were in Fire Emblem:Path of Radiance. Knives, on the other hand, could be thrown in addition to their normal use, giving them a range of 1-2 spaces, although knives are usualy inferior to daggers in direct combat.
