Darna

Location of Dahna on the map.

Dahna (ダーナ, Dāna, Darna in some fan translations) is a location in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. A castle situated in the southwest of the Aed Desert, it was a free city home to many different people, most notably some citizens of Grannvale. Besides being a notable defensive position and the last trade stop before the scorching Aed Desert crossing coming from the south, the town of Dahna is known to have an orphanage.

History[]

Dahna is best known as the place where the Miracle of Dahna occurred in year 632 of the Grann calendar. Much of the history of Dahna is not certain after this point, but it was home to citizens of Grannvale.

Right before the events of Genealogy of the Holy War, forces from Ribaut invaded Dahna and slaughtered the people there in an event that sparked a war between Grannvale and Isaach. After Grann 762, the location falls under control of the Grannvale Empire. In Chapter 7, it becomes a crucial structure in the war against the Grannvale Empire. Interestingly, this mimics Dahna's role in the war against the Loptrian Empire as the castle tower became the final fortress of the resistance fighters.

In Grann 777, while the soldiers at Dahna are not hostile at first, once the Liberation Army captures Melgen, Bramsel, the Count of Dahna, will appear and attack Seliph's forces. Reinforcements in the service of Bramsel will arrive with Javarro should the mercenary retreat to the castle. At this point, the Liberation Army must seize Dahna. Once this is achieved, if Ares enters the castle, he will be able to rescue and recruit Lene or Laylea from the Count.

Notable Citizens of Dahna[]

  • Ares - Eldigan's son who was raised by Javarro after his untimely death.
  • Lene - Silvia's cheerful daughter and a dancer who was abandoned by her and put in an orphanage.
  • Coirpre - Silvia's son who was also abandoned, but was raised by General Hannibal of Thracia.
  • Laylea - Lene's substitute character if Silvia has not been paired up.

Etymology[]

Dana or rather (Ad-Dahna) is a desert in central arábia.
