Dancer in the Ruins is the fifteenth chapter in Fire Emblem Engage.

Story[]

In the dead of night, a dancer practices his routine within some ruins. Suddenly, a group of Corrupted surrounds him, when he hears a woman's voice calling for him. The voice leads him to a hiding place. Elsewhere, Timerra tells Alear more about the Northern Fortress, such as it being supposedly haunted by a young woman. The two eventually reach the location in question, where they find that the Corrupted have invaded it. Alear and company rush in to ensure that the Emblem Ring hidden within it is not stolen by them. The two spot the dancer, who has found the Emblem Ring and mistakenly believes the Emblem inside is a princess that was transformed into the ring.

Alear swiftly rescues the dancer, who introduces himself as Seadall. Alear takes notice of the ring, invokes Emblem Corrin from it, and entrusts her to Seadall. Just after, the doors Alear and their army entered through close by themselves, so the army is forced to escape by traversing through the rest of the fortress. Once they reach safety, they find Veyle at the entrance. Veyle speaks casually with Alear, who is convinced that she is trying to ruse them. Alfred, Diamant, and Ivy also chastise her for her murders and thievery of the rings, which she is genuinely surprised to hear of. Alear refuses to listen to her, and she leaves.

Veyle runs off into the desert and contemplates the others' accusations, when Griss comes up to find her. Griss recognizes her as the "other one", and she refuses to follow him to Sombron. She tells him that she believed she was friends with the Divine Dragon, Alear, which Griss is surprised by. Griss then convinces her that, since she could not remember committing the acts she was accused of, she must not have done them in the first place. He then leads her off to Firene.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

This map takes place in two parts. First, the player must have Alear speak to Seadall. If he falls, it is the first defeat condition of the map. Once he is spoken to, he will join the player's roster and comes with the Ring of the Crux of Fate equipped to him. From this point, the player must navigate the entire fortress and escape.

The fortress is littered with Corrupted and numerous tiles with purple Miasma. These titles severely hinder your units, causing any ally unit who stands in it to suffer a huge degrade of their defensive stats and if a Corrupted stands in them, they receive a massive boost to their defenses. With the new Ring of the Crux of Fate, the Dragon Vein skill is now available and, due to Seadall being equipped with it, the Miasma can be cleared by using the Dragon Vein on them. Seadall creates destructible ice pillars that the player can either damage and destroy or wait until their next turn for it to automatically shatter. The ice cannot be used on any tile occupied by a unit. Once the pillar has been created and destroyed, any Miasma on that title is permanently cleared for the remainder of the map.
