A Defeat Condition is a condition that will cause the current battle to end in immediate failure if allowed to happen.
Overview[]
All battles in the Fire Emblem series have one or more defeat conditions. If the defeat condition is met, the battle will either end in a Game Over state, or the player will be prompted to use the game's Turn Rewinding mechanic if uses remain. A battle's defeat conditions may change when specific events occur.
Defeat conditions are in opposition to a battle's Victory Conditions.
Common Defeat Conditions[]
- The death of a specified character, most often the game's lead protagonist(s) or an NPC of importance.
- Failure to prevent enemy units from reaching a Defend point or Escape point.
- Failure to meet specified conditions in battles with a turn limit.
