Fe13 skirmish in the sands

The Desert Oasis as it appears on the map.

The Desert Oasis is the location of Paralogue 14 of Fire Emblem Awakening. The ruffian Nombry calls it the "golden oasis" because of the rumours of treasure in the surrounding sands.

Geography[]

This oasis is found in Southeastern Ylisse on a peninsula. Separated from the Halidom of Ylisse by a mountain range, it is unclear who, if anyone, rules over this territory. There are several villages surrounding the lake that takes up the center of the oasis, as well as palm groves and other plant life. The lake is probably alkaline in nature given its seaside location, but it must not be terribly so to support life, suggesting that the ocean is not the only source of water here. Based on maps of Archanea, the retreating sea was likely caught in a depression where either a river or an aquifer supplied the fresh water, allowing people to settle there even if the exposed seabed turned to desert.

The people here live a secluded life but for visits from those seeking the oasis's rumoured treasure: the legendary Goddess Staff. The Goddess Staff is said to be found in a mirage village that can only be seen during sandstorms. Having heard of their supposed riches, bandits roam the sands outside the villages.

Story[]

Following rumours of a mirage village, Chrom leads the Shepherds to the Desert Oasis. Laurent can be found in a village on the southwestern shore, having arrived for the same purpose. The bandit leader Nombry and his men are here searching for treasure as well. After visiting four villages, the hints from all the village elders will allow the Shepherds to find the mirage village. Upon standing on a specific tile on the map, the army will receive the Goddess Staff. While visiting each of the inhabited villages, the Shepherds are welcomed with rewards for their bravery in venturing out into the sands. However, with each village visited, more bandits will appear.

If Chrom or Miriel spoke to Laurent during the battle, he will join the Shepherds. After the battle, he reveals to the latter that he is her son, which Miriel decides to accept until she can find material evidence that he is not. If Nombry and his thugs were defeated before the mirage village was found, Chrom declares the rumour about treasure to be just that, and leaves without the Goddess Staff.

Trivia[]
