Devil weapons are a mighty but cursed weapon class that have a potential backfire on the users, based on the Luck stat. They include the Devil Axe and Devil Sword, thus no lance or bow equivalent in the Fire Emblem games (though the Devil Spear appears in TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga). They were introduced in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. The chance of the weapon injuring the wielder is calculated as 31% minus Luck (except in Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light where it is 21% minus Luck, and in Binding Blade where it is 21% minus Level). It is unwise to use a Devil weapon to attack a wall or snag, since they have no defense and may potentially kill the character (which can create some rather humorous moments). Performing a critical hit with a Devil weapon is likely a gamble, and may prove to be fatal to the wielder. Devil weapons cannot be forged. Conveniently, however, devil weapons are extremely heavy in FE 5-8, meaning it is difficult to double opponents and backfire on yourself twice in one turn.
