The Dual Shuriken (逆手裏剣 Gyaku shuriken, lit. Reverse Shuriken) is a Shuriken that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. Like its Japanese name suggests, the Dual Shuriken is imbued with the unique property of reversing the Weapon Triangle, alongside doubling its advantages and disadvantages.
The shuriken (手裏剣) was a common throwing weapon for ninja, and its name can mean "sword hidden in the hand", or "the sword inside of hand". These were flattened, bladed discs that were thrown at enemies.
Ironically, shurikens mostly look like small discs with flat spikes protruding out the sides, so that it could slice while being thrown and spinning. The dual shuriken seen in Fire Emblem Fates looks much more like a kunai (苦無), which were diamond shaped knives that were originally used for farming and repurposed into weapons by some ninja.
- Furthermore, kunai were mostly used as close combat weapons for stabbing people up close, while actual shurikens were meant to be thrown.
