Eckesachs is a divine Sword that appears in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. Unlike the other divine weapons that exist within the Elibe Series, Eckesachs is incapable of inflicting effective damage against Manaketes, although this may be due to the fact it is an enemy only weapon in the main game and it may in fact do so according to lore.
The weapon itself is unique in design. Having no sheath, the blade is simply carried around in a scepter form. When it is actually used, the sword mechanically morphs into a huge blade of overwhelming power, whereupon Zephiel proceeds to grip it firmly before spinning and thrusting it at a selected enemy target. The sword apparently has some affinity with the element of lightning, as evidenced by the presence of electrical bolts whenever Zephiel either activates a critical hit or sends shockwaves towards his foe when attacking at range.
Background[]
One of the Legendary Weapons of Elibe, Eckesachs is, alongside the Binding Blade originally wielded by the Hero Hartmut for the express purpose of slaying dragons during the Scouring. When the Scouring eventually reached its conclusion, Eckesachs' status was elevated to that of the royal sword of Bern, bound solely to the overarching ruler of the realm. During the events of The Binding Blade, King Zephiel inherits the authority to wield the blade. He is seen wielding it in both his battle with Cecilia in Chapter 13 and his showdown with Roy in Chapter 22.
The blade's fate after Idunn's defeat is unknown, although it is likely that it remained as the royal sword of Bern once again.
