—Elbert to Nergal.
Elbert is the father of Eliwood, grandfather of Roy, the husband of Lady Eleanora and was Marquess Pherae before he was captured and killed by Nergal. He disappeared, along with many of the knights of Pherae, while investigating an unknown issue. His son soon sets off to find him, resulting in many events of the story of the game.
Profile[]
Having left Pherae to investigate mysterious rumors, Elbert and the knights of Pherae were attacked by Nergal and his subordinates. All of his retinue were slain, and their Quintessence stolen, except for Harken, and Elbert himself was imprisoned in the Dragon's Gate by the Black Fang. While he was kept prisoner on Valor, The Dread Isle, he befriended Ninian and Nils and manages to keep them from ending their lives to thwart Nergal. During their imprisonment, he tells them of Elibe, his home of Pherae, and his son, Eliwood. He helps them escape the grasp of Nergal, but remains a hostage on the island. Despite being previously wounded by Nergal's Angel of Death, Jaffar, he still manages to deal Nergal an almost fatal blow as the Dark Druid attempts to open the Dragon's Gate, but with his Quintessence stolen from him, he passes away in his son's arms.
