—Eremiya, to her assassins on the fog-of-war condition of Chapter 20x
Eremiya is a boss character in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem and the overarching antagonist of its prologue. She is the leader of the shadowy assassin group serving Gharnef. She commands Legion, Clarisse, and Reese (undercover as Katarina), and regards them as little more than puppets to serve her.
Profile[]
Background[]
Eremiya was once a kind bishop who looked after children at her orphanage, but during an unknown war the orphanage burned to the ground, killing all of the children. Distraught and heartbroken, she blamed herself for the tragedy and wondered what she might have done to prevent it. In her grief, Gharnef appeared, erasing her memory and casting a spell on her. She fell prey to his spell, her memory was altered and her heart twisted into that of a cruel puppet master.
From then on, Eremiya raised orphans to be merciless assassins in an orphanage in the mountains of Archanea. She raised them in darkness, stripping them of their free will and teaching them only to move when ordered, locking them in lightless basements and delighting in their torment through hellish training. She and Gharnef orchestrated the deaths of Clarisse's family at the hands of the Soothsire bandits so that Eremiya could claim the talented young girl and raise her to be an assassin alongside Reese and Legion.
After the War of Shadows, Eremiya sends Reese, Clarisse, and Legion to the Samsooth mountains to eliminate the Soothsire bandits and test their strength to see if they are worthy of serving Gharnef. She and Gharnef join to watch their pawns in action, and ultimately decide that they will serve his purpose well.
War of Heroes[]
During the War of Heroes, Eremiya's group works in the shadows to assassinate Prince Marth. Reese is the first to try, but she ultimately fails and rejoins the assassins. Eremiya's group sets in motion Gharnef's plan to resurrect the Shadow Dragon Medeus by stealthily kidnapping Lena and Maria, clerics of noble blood, from Macedon in the dead of night for Gharnef's ritual. She sends her pawns to assassinate Wrys and Horace in an attempt to prevent them from joining forces with Marth, and ultimately sends both Legion and Clarisse to assassinate Marth. When Legion is killed in battle, she orders Reese to dispose of his clones, considering them useless without him. When Clarisse is gravelly wounded in her battle with Marth, she orders Reese to dispose of her as well, feeling no sympathy for Clarisse despite previously praising her. Finally, she commands Reese to assassinate Marth, and she never returns.
Eremiya's orphanage is eventually discovered by Marth and they battle in the darkness, but she is defeated by Marth's army and left for dead. As Eremiya lay dying, Gharnef appears and tells her that as the maidens have been prepared to be sacrificed to revive Medeus, she is no longer needed. He then torments her by restoring the past that he sealed from her memory. After gloating over the sight of seeing someone who grieved over dead children later smile at hearing the pained screams of other children, Gharnef allows her to die in despair.
Personality[]
Eremiya is depicted as a cold, ruthless woman, raising orphans into becoming assassins for Gharnef's purposes. She feels no love towards her wards and treats them all like puppets for her master's bidding. She subjected her charges to torturous training and is willing to abandon them to their deaths, smiling as they cried and screamed. Eremiya appears explicitly linked to Gharnef, communicating with him telepathically and gladly doing his bidding.
In reality, Eremiya was a kind, caring woman who truly loved the orphans she raised. However, in despair from watching so many of them die when the original orphanage burned down, she fell prey to Gharnef's spell. Her final moments were left in the deepest despair and regret as she was forced to come to terms with her heinous acts while under his controls.

Vs. Katarina[]
- If Katarina is the first unit to battle Eremiya
Katarina: "Lady Eremiya..."
Eremiya: "If it isn't the broken puppet. I wonder... should I call you ungrateful trash or traitorous trash? But I must say, it's very brave of you to show your face in front of me again, Reese."
Katarina: "Meeting you again... crushes my heart. I'd rather die, frankly. But, if I can be of use to Kris, then I will not run away!"
Eremiya: "A junk puppet talking like a human being? The only word you're ever allowed to say is 'Yes'. I'll make sure that mouth of yours starts working properly right away."

Etymology[]
Eremiya is a corruption of the name Jeremiah.
Trivia[]
- While Gharnef does not elaborate about the spell he used on Eremiya, her corruption bears similarities to that of Hardin, so it's likely that the Darksphere was involved.
- Despite looking quite youthful, Eremiya has raised several adults, some even looking older than herself.
- The war which destroyed Eremiya's orphanage is unknown and given a brainwashed Eremiya killed Clarisse's parents, the war had to have taken place at least roughly a decade prior to the events of New Mystery of the Emblem.
