Ereshkigal is a Dark magic spell from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. The personal tome of Nergal, Ereshkigal possesses a high Might and accuracy rate, and alongside the fact that it is relatively light (as compared to other tomes such as Excalibur and Aureola), it is thus extremely lethal in nature.

Casting the tome causes the background to go black and creates a giant black portal alongside smaller portals reminiscent of black holes that pulls in a stream of swirling purple energies reminiscent of souls or spirits, taking the tome's name and its meaning into consideration it could mean that the portal is in fact a portal to the underworld and it is pulling in the spirits of the damned into it.

At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts Atk/Res-6 on foe, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Res = 20% of unit's Res at start of combat, deals damage = number of [Bonus] effects active on unit X 5 (excluding stat bonuses; max 25: excluding area-of-effect Specials), and reduces damage by value = number of [Bonus] effects active on unit x 3 (excluding stat bonuses; max 15; excluding area-of-effect Specials), and also, if unit's attack can trigger unit's Special, grants Special cooldown count-x to unit before unit's first attack during combat (X = number of [Bonus] effects active on unit; excluding stat bonuses: max 3).

[Essence Drain]

After combat, if unit attacked, grants any [Bonus] effects active on target and foes within 2 spaces of target to unit and allies with the Essence Drain effect, and neutralizes any [Bonus] active on target and foes within 2 spaces of target (excluding Bonus effects being granted at the same time). After combat, if foe was defeated in combat, restores 10 HP to unit and allies with the Essence Drain effect.

Etymology[]

Ereshkigal was the name of the Mesopotamian goddess of the Underworld. According to a certain myth, Ereshkigal tried to reprimand Nergal, the god of war, for ignoring her messengers. Nergal responded by attempting to kill Ereshkigal, whereupon she promised to marry him and elevate him to the King consort of death.

Trivia[]

  • Unusual even for unique NPC-specific tomes, Ereshkigal lacks a defined weapon rank.
