Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Unlike other chapters, your units must escape the monsters that line up the Eternal Stairway. Unfortunately, your units are at the bottom of the stairway while the escape area is at the top. In addition, there are powerful Faceless and Stoneborn units that are in the way of escape. Faceless reinforcements will appear from either the top or bottom of the map indefinitely every turn. The Dragon's Vein in this chapter will allow you to freeze all enemies on the map for one turn.

Having Blessed weaponry can help against the monsters, as they take bonus damage from them.

On Lunatic, it is imperative to escape as quickly as possible, as all of the Faceless on the map will carry Savage Blow; although this isn't a danger alone, the sheer amount of Faceless on the map means that they can easily chip off a lot of health if they are not killed in one battle. Most of the Faceless will also carry a weaponbreaker skill which usually makes it more tedious for the player due to their increased accuracy. The Stoneborn are primarily the largest threat due to their attack range. On all modes, they come with Heartseeker, but on Hard and Lunatic, they get Wary Fighter and Renewal, requiring them to be taken down quickly.

Note to beat the chapter, all units have to escape. This means even if you have all but one unit escape but they are killed by the enemy, you will lose. Replicated units will also be unable to escape alone; the original character must escape, after which the replica will warp out of the map.

Enemy Reinforcements

Note: All enemy reinforcements are equipped with Void Curse, which prevents the player from obtaining experience points from them upon death.

  • Endless amounts of Faceless spawn from either the top or bottom of the stairway. On the top, the Faceless come in sets of 2-3 and have nothing special apart from Savage Blow on Lunatic Mode. On the bottom, they come in sets of 2 and have Grisly Wound and Wary Fighter instead.
