Fado is a character in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Known as the peerless Warrior King, is the King of Renais and the father of Eirika and Ephraim. In the Creature Campaign, he can be acquired as a playable unit, a Level 11 General, if the Lagdou Ruins is cleared once.

Profile[]

As the king of Renais, he had a fair relationship with Vigarde, until Grado suddenly attacked Renais without warning. Grado's forces quickly overwhelmed the unprepared Renais soldiers and eventually reached the castle. Before the castle was besieged, Fado entrusted Seth to take Eirika to safety. Fado was killed in the siege of Renais Castle and was succeeded by Ephraim.

Personality[]

Fado was a fair, hardworking and compassionate king, one who cared deeply for all his people, from commoners and soldiers to nobles. As a father, he was loving and protective, even viewing his loyal retainer Seth as a second son. Brave to a fault, Fado was self-sacrificing, taking the burden of the kingdom's invasion upon his own shoulders, and blamed himself for its downfall when the invasion came.

Known for his tireless dedication as a knight, he inspired his army to do their best. Though, he and Ephraim had their share of misunderstandings, something the prince himself acknowledged, Fado never doubted that his son would one day take responsibility and learn to do what was right.

Overall[]

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Fado is one of the better secret characters, although nowhere near Ismaire due to his low growths and relatively low base stats. He has good HP, Strength and Defense, and his Resistance is decent, but his Skill, Speed, and most notably Luck will be his undoing. Fado's constitution is thankfully massive, so he can wield nearly any melee weapon without speed loss, and he comes with an A rank in all three weapon categories. His growths only really excel in HP, Strength, Defense, and maybe Skill, so only use Fado if you really want to. In case you need it for any of your unpromoted Creature Campaign units, he comes with a Master Seal in his inventory, along with a Silver Axe, a Silver Sword, and a Silver Lance.

Etymology[]

A 'fado' is a sad Portuguese folksong. The word comes from the Latin 'fatum' meaning 'fate'.

Also, "fadó" in Irish means "long ago".

Trivia[]

  • In the opening cutscenes he is featured in, Fado is a Peer, also used in cutscenes by Elbert in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. Despite this, he is a General in the Creature Campaign.
  • Ephraim's Sacred Twin Lord design in Fire Emblem Heroes is based on Fado's design in The Sacred Stones and Fado's General class from the Creature Campaign.
