Fernand (フェルナン Ferunan) is a character who appears exclusively in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

Profile

Fernand's and Clive's families knowing each other for a long time, he grew up with Clive and Clair like siblings. However, due to the famine that has plagued Zofia for the past few years, there was an insurrection in his territory in which his estate was attacked. His parents, older sister, and young brother and sister were killed. After this event, Fernand became extremely hostile to commoners as a result.

One of the three founders and former member of the Deliverance, he was persuaded by Berkut to join at his side after Fernand was displeased when Clive made Alm the new leader of the Deliverance.

"Just a minute! The following section contains spoilers. Viewing it will cost a lot. Are you prepared to pay for it?"

After Alm and his forces defeat Berkut's, Fernand retreats along with Berkut. He finds Berkut and a dead Rinea after Berkut goes through with the ritual of ultimate power. A newly-revived Witch Rinea attacks Fernand as he flees the scene, and the wounds that he sustains cause him to pass away in Clive's arms.

Personality

Fernand is shown to be a very vengeful individual. He has a deep hatred of commoners due his family being murdered by them. This hatred was so strong that he was willing to abandon the Deliverance simply because Clive let Alm become leader whom he thought was a peasant at the time. He is also quite judgemental and withholding, as shown when he berates Alm and Lukas simply because of their social status. However, this side of him is the result of his single experience with his family being killed, which shows that he is also a bit naïve, because according to Clair, "the world changed him".
