Fraldarius is a character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. She was one of the Ten Elites who fought in the War of Heroes, and the original bearer of the Crest of Fraldarius.

Profile[]

According to legend, during the War of Heroes, Fraldarius was one of the Ten Elites who fought alongside Nemesis against the forces of Seiros, the Four Saints, and the Adrestian Empire. She bore the Crest of Fraldarius, a blessing from the Goddess, and wielded the legendary Aegis Shield. After the war, Fraldarius founded House Fraldarius in the northern region of Faerghus.

After Seiros prevailed over Nemesis and the Adrestian Empire completed its conquest of Fódlan, she pursued and killed Fraldarius and took custody of the Aegis Shield. Subsequently, the Church of Seiros revised history to write Fraldarius and the Elites as heroes who worked with Nemesis to create modern Fódlan, but became corrupt and had to be struck down by Seiros. Fraldarius' descendants became nobility of the Empire and later, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, passing down her Crest through the centuries.

In Imperial Year 1186, a warrior named Fraldarius served as one of the ten commanders of the army of Nemesis, who had been revived by the technology of Those Who Slither in the Dark. While Claude dismissed the idea that this Fraldarius could have been the revived original, the fact that Nemesis himself was revived lends credence to the possibility that Those Who Slither in the Dark truly did preserve the Ten Elites and restore them to life. Fraldarius, the other Elites, and Nemesis were ultimately defeated, thwarting the final revenge of Those Who Slither in the Dark against the people of Fódlan.

Etymology[]

Fraldarius may be an attempt to convert Fleur-de-lis, a French symbol associated with royalty, into a surname, as Fraldarius is written as "Furarudariusu" in Japanese, and Fleur-de-lis is "Furuuru do risu".

Trivia[]

  • During the War Phase, a character in Abyss claims to be a descendant of Fraldarius.
  • Interestingly, similar to Lamine, Riegan and Gloucester, the crest of Fraldarius has an associated Sacred Weapon, despite all four opposing the saints and despite the Sacred Weapons being specially crafted by Saint Macuil. This implies that either Fraldarius and the other three Elites initially sided with Seiros to then betray her and join Nemesis, children of Fraldarius and the other three Elites betrayed Nemesis and their parents to join Seiros and were given Sacred Weapons, or, considering that humans like Nemesis and Jeralt acquired their Crest from consuming the blood of a Nabatean, the sacred weapons associated with their Crests originally belonged to the unknown Nabatean from which they each acquired their Crests.
