Freikugel is an Axe that debuts in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Overview

Freikugel is one of the Heroes' Relics, passed down through the bloodline of Goneril, one of the Ten Elites. When used by someone who bears the Crest of Goneril, the Combat Art Apocalyptic Flame may be used.

Etymology

It is most likely inspired by the German opera "Der Freischütz" (German for "The Freeshooter" or "Marksman"). In it, the character Max has to pass a test of his skill as a marksman to marry his beloved. Max and his friend Kaspar make a deal with the devil to forge the Freikugeln ("Freeshooter's bullets", singular "Freikugel"). The Freikugeln were infused by magic from the devil to always always hit their mark. However, Max and Kaspar only control the first six bullets, and the seventh bullet was controlled by the devil himself.
