“There's one thing I remember about him. He was hurt badly when he protected me. There was a wound running down his forehead, so deep that I couldn't believe he was still alive...”
—Julia, remembering Garo from her past

Garo (ガロ) is a playable character from TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga. He is a member of the Sea Lion who is loyal to Holmes. He is sent with Runan to assist him in Wellt. He is also not used to speaking with women.

Fifteen years prior to the game's events, Garo saved Julia's life when a group of pirates attacked the residents of Il Island. The scars on his head are a memento of that incident.

Some time after Julia joins Runan's army, she approaches Garo and asks him if he knows the man who saved her in the past. Though Garo is silent, it is implied Julia figured out Garo was her rescuer.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Garo is very powerful when you get him, and for the first few battles is almost invaluable. However, as the game goes on, Garo's usefulness wanes and eventually vanishes. As he grows, Garo will end up with good Strength and Speed with average gains in Skill, making that stat a touch below average, and alright everything else, except movement, which is stuck at an abysmal 4 unless given a stat booster. Despite pirate being equivalent to a Tier 1 class, Garo does not promote. Garo has six above average skills, two of which he starts with. As the game progresses, Garo's role as a heavy-hitter will be replaced by other axe-users and the like. While powerful at base, he just cannot compete due to his low movement, and low stat caps/lack of a promotion.
