Gautier is a character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. He was one of the Ten Elites who fought in the War of Heroes, and the original bearer of the Crest of Gautier.

Profile

During the War of Heroes, Gautier was one of the Ten Elites who fought alongside Nemesis against the forces of Seiros, the Four Saints, and the Adrestian Empire. He bore the Crest of Gautier, a blessing from the Goddess, and wielded the legendary Lance of Ruin. After the war, Gautier founded House Gautier in the northern region of Faerghus.

After Seiros prevailed over Nemesis and the Adrestian Empire completed its conquest of Fódlan, she pursued and killed Gautier and took custody of the Lance of Ruin. Subsequently, the Church of Seiros revised history to write Gautier and the Elites as heroes who worked to create modern Fódlan alongside Nemesis, but became corrupt and had to be struck down by Seiros. Gautier's descendants became nobility of the Empire and later, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, passing down his Crest through the centuries.

In Imperial Year 1185, a warrior named Gautier served as one of the ten commanders of the army of Nemesis, who had been revived by the technology of Those Who Slither in the Dark. While Claude dismissed the idea that this Gautier could have been the revived original, the fact that Nemesis himself was revived lends credence to the possibility that Those Who Slither in the Dark truly did preserve the Ten Elites and restore them to life. Gautier, the other Elites, and Nemesis were ultimately defeated, thwarting the final revenge of Those Who Slither in the Dark against the people of Fódlan.

• Despite being the original wielder of the Lance of Ruin, Gautier only has an E-rank with lances, the lowest possible rank in Three Houses.
• Gautier is the only Ten Elite who shares their enemy class - Great Knight - with one of their descendants. In Gautier's case, he share this with Sylvain, who appears as an enemy Great Knight during Chapter 17 of Crimson Flower.
