—Eitri, Book V, Chapter 4
Gramr is a weapon in Fire Emblem Heroes. It's a powerful blade that can best Fáfnir that only a member of the royal family of Niðavellir can wield. In the Book V cutscenes, Reginn is shown wielding it, with the sword glowing.
Profile[]
A relic of the Kingdom of Niðavellir, swords such as Gramr fell into disuse as the army shifted to seiðjárn weapons. When relationships between Niðavellir and neighboring country Jötunheimr devolved to the point of war, Ótr offered Gramr to Jötunheimr as a peace offering.
When King Fáfnir begins his conquest of Askr, Princess Reginn wants to find a way to stop him. Eitri, the forest sage, tells her that retrieving Gramr is her only shot at stopping him. Princess Nótt of Jötunheimr promises to hand over Gramr as a way of setting up a trap for the Askran forces and Reginn in which her partner, Ótr, is able to take Gramr, Breidablik, and Kiran to Eitri so they could begin the process of creating the Járngreipr.
The Askran forces, Reginn, and the princesses of Jötunheimr eventually track down Eitri and retrieve Gramr. Once Fáfnir is turned into a berserk mechanical dragon by Eitri, Reginn has no choice but to use the sword to slay him, as she is the true heir to Niðavellir's throne and therefore the only one who can utilize the true power of Gramr. With Fafnír gone, Reginn then uses Gramr to defeat Eitri and her seiðjárn, the sword being the one thing Eitri failed to account for.
Etymology[]
In Norse Mythology, Gram is the personal sword of Sigurd that once belonged to his father Sigmund. The sword was used to kill the dragon Fáfnir and then was used to kill Sigurd's foster father Reginn when he attempted to kill him.
