Great Aether is an Engage Attack in Fire Emblem Engage.

Overview[]

Great Aether can be used by a unit that is Engaged with Emblem Ike. When activated, the user is granted Def/Res+5 for the rest of the turn, and is unable to counter. The following turn, the user attacks all enemies in a 2 space radius around them with a Sword or an Axe. The user then heals themselves based on 30% of the damage dealt to the surrounding enemies. The skill has additional effects depending on the user's Battle Style:

  • Dragon: +1 damage per hit taken.
  • Armored: Grants an extra Def+5.
  • Flying: Grants an extra Res+5.

Effects When Special triggers, boosts damage by percentage of unit's Atk = number of times foe has attacked during this combat X 10, + 40.

If unit initiates combat, foe can counterattack before unit's first attack, if foe can perform a follow-up attack, foe can make a follow-up attack before unit's next attack during combat.

Reduces damage from attacks by percentage = 30, - current Special cooldown count value x 10 during combat, but if unit receives consecutive attacks, reduces damage from foe's second attack onward by percentage = 70, - current Special cooldown count value x 10.

IF this Special is triggered during combat, deals 5 damage to foes within 3 rows or 3 columns centered on unit, inflicts Special cooldown+1 (cannot exceed the foe's maximum Special cooldown on those foes, and restores X HP to unit after combat (X = number of foes within 3 rows or 3 columns centered on unit x 5, + 10; max: 50% of unit's max HP).

Non-canon appearances[]

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Great Aether shares its English name with Ike's Final Smash in all of his Smash Bros appearances.

For his Final Smash, Ike launches all enemies he hit into the air and Ragnell ignites with fire that is red in Brawl, and blue in all Smash Bros game appearances post-Radiant Dawn. With the enemies in the air, Ike performs a series of kicks and slashes before performing the standard Aether flip-slashes. After, Ike will then drive the enemies into the ground, resulting in a large explosion. Any enemy caught in the explosion will be launched vertically in a slightly diagonal trajectory.

Description
Ike's Final Smash--a powered-up version of his signature move, Aether. Ike faces a foe and swings his sword up for a hit, then tosses his sword into the air, performs multiple nasty strikes, and finally unleashes a mighty overhand blow to send his opponent plummeting down. It's a very impressive sight, but if Ike misses with the first upward swing, he can't use the move.
