The Great Gate is a location in Fire Emblem Awakening, lying just north of Valm Harbor. It comes under attack in Paralogue 6, where Inigo battles Jamil and his gang in an attempt to win the affections of a local girl.
Profile[]
The Great Gate is an ancient, imposing structure in the northeast of the continent of Valm. There are numerous villages in the surrounding area. A gang of bandits led by Jamil uses the Great Gate as a launching point for their attacks on these villages. Encountering a local maiden, Inigo pledges to clear out the bandit gang all by himself and take her on a date afterward. At the same time, Chrom leads the Shepherds to the Great Gate, hoping to end the bandits' impunity once and for all. The Shepherds rescue Inigo from his foolhardiness and defeat the bandits. Still, Chrom tells the village girl that Inigo was the key to their victory, and she gives him a variety of gifts on behalf of all the villagers. After the battle, Inigo reveals that he is Olivia's son and joins the Shepherds. Under Chrom's orders, he unfortunately has to miss his date.
Unbeknownst to the Shepherds, the Great Gate was once called Duma's Gate and dates back to the time of Valentia in Fire Emblem Gaiden. The structure's true purpose seems to have faded into obscurity, though it remains an imposing military fortress.
Trivia[]
- The map of the Great Gate is identical to that of Act 4, Chapter 7 of Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake.
- In both Awakening and Gaiden, the map hosts a boss by the name of Jamil.
