The Griffon Rider (Griffon Knight in the Japanese version) is a promoted class of the Wyvern Rider introduced in Fire Emblem: Awakening. This class rides on Griffons and uses only Axes. Griffon Riders are treated as Aerial and Beast units. Their maximum stats are somewhat more balanced than those of the Wyvern Lord or the promoted Pegasus Knight classes, having more speed and skill but less strength and defense than the Wyvern Lord. Because of this, they are better dodgers than, and can crit and double attack more than Wyvern Lords, so they play relatively like aerial Swordmasters. The two skills Griffon Riders can learn are Deliverer and Lancebreaker. Deliverer ups the user's Movement by 2 when he/she is in a Pair Up. This skill is useful for carrying powerful but sluggish units (namely Generals) to wherever they're needed, or for rushing critically wounded ones to within range of a healer, or vice versa. Either way, this skill grants Griffon Riders a movement of a massive 10, which is extremely handy for taking the initiative, or for escaping over a mountain where most units can't chase them. Lancebreaker boosts the user's Hit/Avoid by 50 if the enemy is equipped with a lance. While this skill may seem like overkill on an axe-wielding class, it is actually very handy for surviving Beast Killer units that would otherwise be major shortener on this unit's lifespan. It is also good for defeating lance units that are powerful enough to override the weapon triangle (And it can happen). In additon, Lancebreaker makes it so that all Falcon Knights and some Wyvern Lords will always lose one-on-one to this class. In all, a great class for supporting your units while still dishing out accurate and merciless attacks.
