The Guardians of Fódlan are a mercenary company who appear in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Their history is explored in Leonie and Shamir's paralogue, Mercenary Complications.
Sometime between her participation in the Dagda and Brigid War of 1175 and subsequent employment with the Knights of Seiros, Shamir had worked for the Guardians for one mission. She recalls her experience negatively, noting that despite their name, the Guardians had little in the way of loyalty or unity, citing an unusually high turnover rate due to their members dying and frequently getting replaced with newer, less experienced members. Shez recalls fighting the Guardians before the start of the war and noticing that they behaved more like a band of brigands than a mercenary company. Shamir later adds that they tend to send large numbers of troops after their targets, with the survivors caring more about getting larger shares of loot from missions than mourning their deceased comrades.
In the paralogue, Shez, Shamir, and Leonie disrupt a plot by the current Guardians to kidnap Shamir and put her at the mercy of their boss by infiltrating the mercenaries' hideout and killing their captain. Some of the remaining mercenaries disband the group after the battle to form the New Guardians of Fódlan, who can be hired as a battalion.
