—Gunnar
Gunnar, also known as Count Galatea, is a character mentioned in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. He is the head of House Galatea, a county in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and the father of Ingrid.
Profile[]
Gunnar, as head of House Galatea, manages his region of Faerghus, one that is noted for its rough agriculture conditions. Upon the birth of his daughter Ingrid, his only child that bore the Crest of Galatea, he arranged a marriage with Rodrigue's eldest son Glenn to secure a favorable alliance and security for his people. The union, while premeditated, turned into a genuinely positive prospect for both parties and both Ingrid and Glenn held each other in high regard. Tragedy would strike when Glenn perished in the Tragedy of Duscur, thus ending the arranged marriage.
With the union gone, Gunnar became desperate to secure another marriage using his daughter. Unlike most nobles of Fódlan, while insistent that his daughter marry someone who could help provide for the Galatea region, Gunnar is highly considerate of his daughter and allows Ingrid to vet her potential suitors and has personally turned away suitors who do not appeal to her, no matter how considerable of a dowry he would receive. In fact, despite the poor quality of his region, Gunnar made an effort to raise Ingrid lovingly, sometime to his own personal and physical detriment. As a result, the two have a mutual familial love for each other with Ingrid considering her father's efforts despite her own personal life goal of becoming a knight.
Etymology[]
Gunnar is a male given name of Nordic origin (Gunnarr in Old Norse). The name means fighter, soldier, and attacker, but mostly is referred to by the Viking saying which means Brave and Bold warrior.
