—Gunnthrá introducing herself to Kiran
Gunnthrá is a Book II character from Fire Emblem Heroes. She is the First Princess of Nifl and the younger sister of Hríd. She possesses the ability to communicate with others through her dreams as well as receive prophetic dreams. She shares this ability with her siblings. Performing the Rite of Dreams gives her more power over her dreams, allowing her to recall them in great detail even when she's awake.
Profile[]
With Nifl ravaged by war, Gunnthrá reaches out to Kiran through a dream in the second intermission to rescue her sister from Múspell and its king, Surtr.

She calls to Kiran once more in Chapter 3, thanking Kiran for rescuing her sister. She asks Order of Heroes to come to Nifl and aid them against Múspell.
Gunnthrá calls to Kiran again in Chapter 6, congratulating Kiran for defeating two of Muspell's generals, Laevatein and Laegjarn. She then awaits the Order of Heroes in the sanctuary at Snjárhof, to the west.
She calls to Kiran one more time in Chapter 7, feeling overjoyed about her and Kiran meeting each other soon. She then informs Kiran that there is a ceremony in Nifl called the Rite of Frost, in which it can extinguish even the flames of Muspell. The queen of Nifl attempted to use the ritual but failed to use it fully, which she believes was in order to throw Surtr off-guard. Gunnthrá then tells Kiran that she has one of the two artifacts: the Snjársteinn, while Kiran has the other artifact: the Breidablik. With the two artifacts combined, the Order of Heroes would gain the strength needed to finally defeat Surtr.
However, by the time the Order of Heroes arrived at Snjárhof, Gunnthrá was ambushed and viciously burnt by Surtr. But even so, she refused to tell Surtr about her plan. Gunnthrá was again engulfed by his flames and, in her dying breath, she tells Fjorm to live and seek happiness. With her last bit of strength, she grants Kiran her remaining power, telling them to follow the light before she succumbs to her wounds.
Personality[]
Gunnthrá is portrayed as being a gentle soul, capable of putting anyone who interacts with her at ease. This is seen through her communions with Kiran, where she speaks to them with a soothing voice, exuding an aura of calm intertwined with resolve. She believes herself to not be much of a warrior compared to Fjorm and Hríd, however, Fjorm believes that her magical prowess more than makes up for it.
Gunnthrá's maintenance of a calm demeanor does not end in polite interactions, as it is portrayed to extend to adverse situations. Even while in hiding from Múspell, she never once breaks down in panic or fear, instead expressing joy and hope with each victory that Kiran and the Askran army seize.

Base Set[]
Introduced as the second Green Cavalry Mage, Gunnthrá stands out from her competition due to her ATK and SPD combo and her personal tome. Thanks to her Cavalry Mage combo, she has impressive reach and can attack just about any part of a map. Topped with her Legendary Hero status, Gunnthrá provides ample support and has strong stats overall, especially during a Wind season. For the most part, Gunnthrá can dispatch a good chuck of the Heroes meta and works well on a Cavalry Team who can deal with her own weaknesses.
Gunnthrá thrives off of Debuffing enemies as her personal tome Blizzard gains power the more stat debuffs her opponents have. Combined with her unique Chilling Seal, Gunnthrá can dispatch many enemies with relative ease thanks to its ability to lower the enemy with the lowest DEF stat, regardless of their position on the map in relation to her. Gunnthrá comes with Glacies which works well with her base kit set up overall, but is inferior to better attack skills listed below. Fortress Resistance 3 synergizes with Glacies but its decrease to her ATK can be more harmful than helpful and thus is better replaced with other skill since Gunnthrá is better for offense than defense. RES Ploy 3 is a solid Skill C and will boost her damage from Blizzard due to the Res debuff it gives. Gunnthrá works well with her starting set and is capable from the get go, but she has room to inherit better skills suited for her more offensive nature. The 2nd Legendary Hero Remix greatly benefitted Gunnthrá. Her upgraded Chilling Seal II now inflicts both a Spectrum Chill of sorts to the foe with the lowest Def, the core stats being diminished by 7, and also diminishing the attack and resistance of the target's allies within 2 spaces by the same 7 points. To better capitalize her tome's effect and her Glacies, she is granted Attack Resistance Solo 4, which is a great improvement, when compared to Fortress Defense Resistance.
Counters[]
Gunnthrá's low Defense makes her extremely vulnerable to the Red unit heavy meta game and prefers to avoid engaging them as much as possible. She is especially vulnerable to Distant Counter red units like Ryoma, Xander, and Black Knight, who can easily dispatch her if she attempts to attack them. Other strong Red Mages like Tharja, Lilina, Sophia, and Sanaki can dispatch her easily, though Rauðrblade+ users fear her Chilling seal a little.
Skill Inherit Options[]
Gunnthrá works well with a Gronnblade+ as her stats allow her to maximize damage and works well with Cavalry Team buffs. With her Blizzard tome or Blade tome, Glimmer works well with scaling her damage. Fury 3 is a strong staple for her damage output and the best A skill overall. If running on a Cavalry Team, Hone Cavalry is a great option for synergy. Reposition is her best Support skill option for utility and unit placement manipulation.
Her preferred Sacred Seals would be any that increase her offensive prowess. Heavy Blade works well with her Debuffing abilities to help speed up her charges.

Base Set[]
New Year's Gunnthrá is a sword flier seasonal unit who is a product of her release period as she is not overloaded in her base kit and holds a decent offensive statline. At 34 neutral Atk and 37 neutral Spd, Gunnthrá has the potential to deal massive damage with strong double attacks. Her mixed bulk on the other hand is middling and cannot duel many units without taking significant damage in return. While she makes for a safe investment, her perks are heavily overshadowed by a host of units released long after her, namely Young Caeda. Still, investing in New Year Gunnthrá can result in some reliable results that does not make her unusable by any sort of definition.
Hikami grants her a flat +3 Spd increase, bringing her to 40 Spd, a high amount that can easily double over a decent portion of the cast. Additionally, at the start of the turn, Gunnthrá also inflicts a -4 debuff of the core four stats on the nearest foes within four spaces of her. This wide range debuff gives her a powerful status for support in either setting up her own kills or helping her allies do the same.
Glimmer boosts her damage by 50% and works well on flier teams who can give her powerful stat buffs. Her two leading passive skills makes her out to be a strong player turn offensive character. Swift Sparrow increases her Atk/Spd by 4 when she initiates combat, improving her overall offense. Desperation allows Gunnthrá to immediately perform her follow-up attack if she initiates combat under 75% HP. Finally, if adjacent to an ally, Joint Hone Speed boosts the Spd of herself and her adjacent allies by 5 at the start of turn.
Counters[]
New Year's Gunnthrá's overall bulk is not enough to sustain many hits and being a flier leaves her extremely vulnerable to bow units. Blue units can easily take her debuffs and still inflict massive, if not lethal damage, just through color advantage alone.
Skill Inherit Options[]
New Year's Gunnthrá has just about the best kit she can ask for minus an assist skill. Reposition is a staple for fliers in general and most offensive units as her ability to move grounded allies over terrain or just moving fliers around the map is a huge asset for her team.

Base Set[]
Summer Gunnthrá is a seasonal colorless dagger cavalry unit, giving her some form of uniqueness that was only shared with Summer Linde upon her Summer Gunnthrá's release. She shares many of the same traits as Summer Linde, having a strong emphasis on offense and very little in defense. Neutral 33 Atk and neutral 37 Spd make her an incredibly hard hitting unit and her ability to debuff through the host of daggers in game gives her a powerful utility for her team depending on her equipped dagger. Her bulk on the other hand sits at neutral 17 Def and 24 Res, meaning that she usually will not survive taking at hit. While she is by no means a dominant unit, investment in her does have its advantages in certain situations.
Tropical Treats+ grants her +4 Atk/Res if she has a visible buff on her such as through a Hone or Rally skill. After combat in which she attacked, she inflicts the【Dagger 7】debuff, reducing the Def/Res of her foe and foes within two spaces of that target by 7, drastically reducing their ability to take hits from Gunnthrá and her allies.
Rally Def/Res+ grants Def/Res+6 to an ally that she uses the skill on. AR-O Speed Resistance increases her Spd and Res when attacking during Aether Raids. The increase is based on the number n the number of foe's active defensive structures. While this gives her a decent amount of power and magical bulk, the situational usage is decent for the mode specific, but can be dropped for more universal skills. Disarm Trap causes her to disable any trap she steps on in Aether Raids, rendering their effects useless the skill is at the max tier.
Counters[]
Summer Gunnthrá remains extremely vulnerable to attacks of any kind and being colorless leaves very few, if any, units that she could willingly take a hit from. Raventome users like both tome Robins, Sophia, and Lyon hard wall her by inflicting a color disadvantage over her. Distant Counter users are generally bulky enough to take a hit and then immediately defeat her upon counterattacking.
Skill Inherit Options[]
Summer Gunnthrá needs a near kit overhaul as her two passive skills are only useful in Aether Raids and even then are gimmicky at best. Moonbow is an excellent special for her to ensure that she can maximize her damage by ignoring 30% of her enemy's def when it activates. Swift Sparrow boosts her offensive stats when she initiates combat while Fury provides a flat boost to her core stats. Though she suffers recoil from the latter, it does help her get into Desperation range to immediately perform her follow-up attack once she is under 75% HP. Skill C is flexible enough to run skills that boost her allies stats such as Odd/Even Attack Wave or Hone Cavalry for cavalry teams.
As for her dagger options, she has a lot to choose from such as Lethal Carrot, Barb Shuriken, Cloud Maiougi, and Sky Maiougi, just to name a few.
