Etymology

The class title Gurgan may be a reference to Gorgan (Persian: گرگان), which is romanized as Gorgān, Gurgān, and Gurgan. Gorgan is the capital city of Golestan Province, Iran. Supposedly, it sits on the site of the ancient city Zadracarta, the largest city of Hyrcania in the First Persian Empire.
