If Dimitri or Claude were sided with, Gwendal and his forces ambush their respective armies at the volcanic valley of Ailell. He is disdainful of his opponents' abilities, calling them children. When Rodrigue or Judith arrive with reinforcements to aid Dimitri or Claude, Gwendal claims that the new combatant will at least give him a decent fight. He falls in battle, but thanks them for allowing him to finally rest. Gilbert calls him a good man who followed the way of the knight.

Trivia Edit

  • Gwendal shares his English voice actor, Michael Sorich, with Vaike from Awakening.
  • Ingrid's C-Support with Sylvain mentions a lord Gwendal who was furious at Sylvain for flirting with his daughter. If Sylvain is talked to while exploring the monastery prior to battling Gwendal, he will confirm this story and express regret toward having to kill the knight.
  • His battle model appears to be unique, as he wears the armor of a Fortress Knight instead of that of a normal Great Knight.
