Hatari (known as Hatary in most PAL region game versions, and Igona in German) is a location from the Tellius Series of Fire Emblem. It is a long-lost kingdom on the continent of Tellius that is inhabited by wolf laguz. Hatari appears exclusively in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It is ruled by Queen Nailah.

Culture[edit | edit source]

The culture of Hatari is notably different than other cultures in Tellius. If Nailah fights Dheginsea in the Part IV Endgame, it is revealed that beorc and laguz live peacefully together with Branded. It is the only known nation where the Branded are not shunned by beorc and laguz alike. This is most likely due to the fact that Hatari had been very isolated from the continent's other nations until Nailah met Rafiel. Prior to this, she believed that her nation was the only one that survived The Great Flood. Because of this, the lies that the Begnion Empire has spread about beorc and laguz romantic relations being a crime against the goddess never reached their ears. It is currently the only known region to be inhabited by wolf laguz. There are no generic NPC or enemy wolves who appear in Radiant Dawn and there are only two known inhabitants. Therefore, very little is known about the nation itself.

Notable Hatarians[edit | edit source]

  • Nailah - The queen of Hatari and the guardian of Rafiel whose eye patch conceals an evil eye.
  • Volug - A loyal servant of Nailah who speaks in the ancient tongue.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Hatari's name is likely taken from the Swahili word of the same spelling which has the meaning 'hazard' or 'peril'.
