“Say, did you happen to get a look at the axe wrapped in Minerva's princessly fingers? No, I suppose not, or else you'd not be standing here. That axe is the Hauteclere, the strongest axe of 'em all. Nobody knows who made it or where, but it's said to rival even the Three Regalia, Archanea's mightiest weapons. Why if she got her hands on Iote's Shield (that'un being Macedon's treasure, see), she'd be nigh unstoppable!”
—A Villager in Chapter 7 of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.

The Hauteclere is an Axe that debuted in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.

Overview[]

An axe of unknown make and origin, it is notably of equal strength to the Three Regalia of Archanea and can be used as an item to recover 10 HP. In both Archanea titles that the Hauteclere appears in, Minerva, the princess of Macedon, arrives with this axe, however it can be used by any character with sufficient axe rank.

The Hauteclere appears yet again in Awakening, and is considered to be a Regalia weapon that can be acquired through the random opening of a Chest in Xenologue 15, or by defeating the Basilio's Brashest challenge in Double Duel.

The weapon also returns in the spin-off title Fire Emblem Warriors as the personal weapon of Minerva, with both appearing as part of the Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon DLC pack.

The axe appears yet again in Three Houses, where it can be obtained by forging a Rusted Axe obtained from a rare monster. This costs 10 Mythril, and the player must have Professor Level A+.

Etymology[]

Trivia[]

  • Discounting passive bonuses, Hauteclere's base Might is the highest of all weapons available in Awakening.
  • Unlike other Legendary Weapons, Hauteclere seems to have gained power instead of losing it in the two thousand year gap between New Mystery of the Emblem and Awakening. It has better Might, Durability and its healing ability has also improved, despite suffering a slight decrease in its Accuracy and Critical Hit Rate.
    • It still has a higher Critical Hit Rate than it did in Shadow Dragon, though.
