“Ah... So you are my sister's destined, are you? I see. [...] Well, this is the one to whom you gave your revelation, is it not, Seið? Giving a gift of revelation to a mortal is no small matter for a goddess! To do so is to thoroughly entwine yourself in their destiny. Ohh! I don't want to embarrass Seiðr any more than I have already. Still...how exciting!”
—Heiðr to Seiðr, Book VII, Chapter 6

Heiðr is a character introduced in Book VII of Fire Emblem Heroes.

Profile[]

Heiðr is the sister of Seiðr and one of the goddesses of Vanaheimr. At some point, she was afflicted with a curse referred to by Njörðr as the Curse of the Golden Seer, associated with Gullveig. When the curse strikes, Heiðr suffers great pains and speaks of "the snakes within her," but Njörðr is able to ease her suffering.

After Seiðr brings Alfonse, Sharena, Anna, and Kiran to Njörðr for advice on how to stop Gullveig before she destroys Midgard, Njörðr informs her that Gullveig's underlings are attacking Vanaheimr, specifically targeting Heiðr. Desperate to protect her sister, Seiðr enlists the Order of Heroes' help in repelling Gullveig's forces, reaching Heiðr just in time. Once the enemies are defeated, Seiðr introduces Heiðr to the group, and Heiðr playfully teases her sister over her choice to reveal the future to the summoner, Kiran, as it means their souls are now bound together. As she relents with her teasing, Heiðr is suddenly taken by the power of the Golden Curse, and Seiðr resolves to bring her back to Njörðr for healing.

After Seiðr and the Order return from the past, they find Heiðr suffering from the late stages of the curse, as Njörðr was unable to heal her. Njörðr laments that the only thing that can be done for her is to end her life in order to end her suffering. Though Seiðr is despondent, she kills Heiðr, only to learn from a suddenly ecstatic Njörðr that she had played right into his hands, and that with Heiðr's death, the Golden Curse had been passed on to her so that she will become Gullveig.

The true nature of Heiðr's relationship to Seiðr and Gullveig plays a prominent role in the Golden Seer's cyclical existence. Seiðr asks Kiran if they would conceive a child with her through a process unique to a god's bonding with a mortal. This offspring, however, is not born until after Seiðr becomes Gullveig. After birthing Heiðr, Gullveig sends her daughter back in time to become Seiðr's sister, and the Golden Curse will gradually consume her until her death again allows its transference to Seiðr.

Personality[]

Heiðr is an innocent goddess that loves her sister Seiðr, and holds trust that both her sister and Njörðr will do what they can to free her of the curse. Though she wants to be helpful, she also doesn't want to unnecessarily burden others. Unlike Seiðr, she places much less emphasis on behaving like a "proper" goddess, so she freely expresses her thoughts and emotions without constantly worrying about her image.

Heiðr is also shown to be rather mature and pragmatic in spite of her childish disposition. She is well aware that she will likely die, and doesn't try to give others false hope of her surviving the curse. Instead of lamenting her fate and how unfair it is for her to be suffering from her condition, she chooses to find peace in the fact that she has had an opportunity to live at all. In her 5 star Level 40 conversation, she expresses her gratitude towards the one who gave her life, even if she could never meet her.

Heiðr later becomes aware that Kiran is her soul parent and encourages Seiðr to follow her feelings. Even her duo form with Seiðr has her playfully teasing Seiðr about her not too subtle feelings towards the Summoner.
