Profile[edit | edit source]
In Imperial Year 1167, House Hrym attempted to defect from the Empire to the Alliance out of opposition to Emperor Ionius IX's policy of power centralization. House Ordelia provided aid to Hrym, but the Imperial army ultimately prevailed and quashed the rebellion. House Hrym's main bloodline was wiped out, and an adoptee inherited the title of Viscount Hrym. In addition, the Empire began interfering in House Ordelia's internal affairs in retaliation for its role in the rebellion, damaging its noble standing within the Alliance.
Duke Aegir subsequently ruled over the Hrym territory, and imposed harsh taxes upon the people -- much harsher than on his own -- making their lives very challenging. People fled their homes in droves to the neighboring Ordelia territory. But they were sent back from where they came, as the Empire was already occupying Ordelia territory as well.

Issues were further complicated when Duke Aegir fell from power, as Aegir was dismissed from his position, only to be replaced by Lord Arundel, who not only imposed even heavier taxes on the people, but conscripted the populace for duty, killing any who opposed on the spot, claiming this was done in the name of Duke Aegir.
This came to a head in Imperial Year 1185, when Ferdinand learned that his missing father, Duke Aegir, had been found in Hrym, which was beset by riots. Lysithea accompanied Ferdinand there as she was familiar with the territory. With both later learning that, after Duke Aegir escaped from house arrest, he was confronted by people who have experienced atrocities by Aegir's rule, along with Lord Arundel's actions in Aegir's name, and later killed.
