Irma is a non-playable character from Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. In Gaiden, her name is not given.

Profile[]

Irma is a Cleric in service of the Earth Mother Mila at Mila Temple. A prisoner of Grieth, Irma is freed by Celica following her captor's defeat. Given the opportunity to speak with Celica, she reveals that she knew Celica's mother, Liprica, the late queen of Zofia. She further expounds that Liprica was forced into marriage with Lima IV and later suffered from an illness to which she succumbed after giving birth to Celica. As Irma relays these details, she sees Celica tear up and attempts to comfort her. She then laments that the circlet belonging to Liprica, which by all rights should now be Celica's, is missing.

After Mila Temple is liberated, events differ between Gaiden and Shadows of Valentia. In Gaiden, Irma presents the circlet to Celica. In Shadows of Valentia, Irma will mention the circlet, but it is instead later presented to Celica by the Masked Knight. In both cases, Celica promotes to Princess after acquiring it.

Personality[]

Irma is a devout and kindhearted follower of Mila, having served as a Cleric at Mila Temple for many years. As Liprica's best friend, she worried for her when she was taken from the temple to become the wife of Lima IV.

Etymology[]

Irma is a female given name of German origin. The name comes from the Old High German irmin, meaning "whole, universal". The anglicized form is Emma.

Trivia[]

  • Irma's voice actress, Carrie Keranen, also voices Gunnthrá and L'Arachel in Fire Emblem Heroes.
  • Because Irma existed only as a nameless NPC with no unique portrait art in Gaiden, she was not included in the ballot for the first Choose Your Legends voting competition in 2017.
