—In-game description
Ivaldi (イーヴァルディ Īvarudi) is a Light magic tome from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Also known as the Glorious Light (光輝, Kōki lit. Radiance), Ivaldi is, alongside the Saint's Staff Latona, one of the Sacred Twins of Rausten. When cast, a beam of light will sweep across the screen and engulf the entire battlefield in searing pillars of light.
Much like most of the other Sacred Twin weapons, Ivaldi deals effective damage against monsters. However, if a Bishop attacks a monster unit with this tome, its damage bonus will overwrite the damage bonus from the Slayer skill. This leads to many players giving an Aura tome to their Bishops instead, passing Ivaldi to a Valkyrie or a Sage with S rank in Light tomes.
Background
In The Sacred Stones, Ivaldi is, along with the Saint's Staff Latona, given to Eirika by Mansel. Despite the fact that doing so violates the creed that forbids the relics from being removed from their resting place, Mansel makes an exception, urging Eirika to use them to save the world.

Overview
By the time Ivaldi is obtained, only two human opponents remain in the entire game, neither of whom particularly care one way or another about the defensive boost Ivaldi provides. As such, in the hands of a bishop at least, Ivaldi will functionally always be weaker (and less capable of achieving critical hits) than Aura. On the other hand, it is more accurate, notably lighter, and capable of protecting the otherwise physically frail magic wielders that might use it. If the player possesses multiple light users, the player can split Ivaldi and Aura between them (in the case of Valkyries, Pupils, and sages with S-ranked light magic, Ivaldi should always be used). Otherwise, a single unit should be equipped with both, allowing the player to choose the preferable tome for any given situation.

Etymology
In Norse mythology, the 'Sons of Ivaldi' were dwarves who forged powerful weaponry for the gods, such as that of Odin's legendary spear, Gungnir.
