Judith is a character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. She is known as the Hero of Daphnel.

Profile

In Imperial Year 1180, Judith is a leading commander of the Leicester Alliance. As a noble of House Daphnel, she holds Alliance territory bordering the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and shares distant blood relations with other nobility from both nations.

Crimson Flower

Judith is charged with defending the Great Bridge of Myrddin. Though Claude told her to retreat if she was overwhelmed, she intends to fight to the bitter end while waiting for reinforcements. Soon after the Black Eagle Strike Force engages her troops in combat, she calls for reinforcements, coming in the form of Leonie (if she was not recruited) or a generic Alliance general (if she was recruited), along with Acheron and his troops. If her reinforcements are killed first instead of her, she will attempt to retreat. Regardless, she is killed in the ensuing battle.

Silver Snow

Judith makes a brief appearance in Silver Snow, after the Resistance Army suggests relying on her to provide supplies and reinforcements. The Resistance Army travels to Ailell to meet up with Judith's reinforcements, after which she reveals to them that her spies have found that Rhea was taken in by Imperial Troops. Afterwards, she departs and is never seen again.

Azure Moon

Judith appears during Chapter 19 as an ally. She is one of Claude's allies involved with fending off Imperial troops from Derdriu alongside Hilda if she was not recruited. During Byleth and Dimitri's rescue attempt upon Claude's request, the Kingdom army fights off the Empire and manages to save Claude. Judith can be potentially killed if the player does not save her fast enough, however, if she survives the battle, her fate afterwards remains unknown.

Verdant Wind

Judith checks in with Byleth about Claude's development as the future leader of the Alliance. Once the war breaks out and the Alliance retakes Garreg Mach, she rallies troops and supplies that she can bear to the Alliance cause and becomes an advisor for Claude who features in many of the pre- and post-battle conversations. She fulfills a similar function to Gilbert if the Blue Lions is chosen, only she is not playable.

Personality

Judith is an seasoned, experienced general for the Alliance with a high degree of respect amongst the various houses. She acts as a mentor to Claude, providing sound advice to the new leader of the Alliance, though she is quick to exchange wit and friendly barbs with the young leader. Her perceptions are often on the mark and shows incredible guile during strategy meetings. Her stern appraisals help to humble the younger members of the Alliance and she habitually refers to Claude as "boy" and Lorenz as "Gloucester boy", despite their status as heirs apparent to their respective houses.

Etymology

Judith originates in the Hebrew Yehudit, and means "Jewish woman".

Judith is the main character of an apocryphal book in the old testament of the Catholic Bible, that tells the story of a life of a widow from the Simeon tribe who saved her people from the Assyrians by cutting off the Assyrian commander Holofernes' head in his sleep after seducing him. Judith is also a biblical name cited in the New Testament as one of Esau's wives.
