“We are less than human now. We are no different from our swords themselves. Our hearts are cold, and we count the days we live solely by the flesh we cleave. What meaning can there be in such an existence?”
—Karla in a support conversation with Karel

Karla (カアラ, Kāra?) is the distant, naîve and cool-natured sister of Karel, called the "Princess of Swords". Although she has mastered the art of swordplay, she generally dislikes fighting and often finds peaceful methods of resolving conflict. She fights in arenas in hopes of finding her brother, who killed their parents, although Karla is not aware of this until finding him; and even after she finds out the truth, she strives to redeem him, or die trying. She later marries Bartre and is the mother of Fir from Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi but dies of illness a few years before that game takes place. It is implied in her supports with Farina that she and Karel were either born or have lived in Sacae.

To recruit her, Bartre must be at least a level 5 Warrior. She will appear on the arena as a neutral unit. If you talk to her with Bartre and they fight with both surviving, she will join you. She comes very late in the game as a level 5 Swordmaster so it's can be very difficult to train her. However, if you're planning to use her, you can train her a little in the arena, and exploit weakened promoted enemies during the 32x chapter. She is a good replacement for Guy if he is killed or you didn't train him, and if you did not get Karel and choose Harken instead. If you have Guy and Karel, you don't necessarily have to use her, but she is a good addition to your group, if only for her Wo Dao. She appears in the village in Chapter 25 (H).

Overall

Sword Princess Karla isn't too bad of a fighter, as she has remarkable Speed and Skill. She's decent at least, so use her if you like. She is no match for Guy; but if you can Level her up to 20, she will match her brother Karel. Give her a Killing Edge, and she can pull some major Criticals because Karla's skill rate is generally the same as her brother's.

Quotes

“Karla: I've lived long enough. I've no regrets...”
—Final Chapter: Light Quote

Defeat quote:

Karla: Too inexperienced... I'll never reach my brother now...
(End of chapter)
Hector: Oswin! What happened to that female swordfighter? Karla, wasn't it?
Oswin: It seems she was hurt in that last skirmish. She left without telling a soul.
Hector: Is that so? Well, that's that then.
