The Kinshi Knight (金鵄武者 Kinshi musha, lit. Golden Kite Warrior) is a Kinshi-mounted combat physical class that is introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. One of the promoted forms of the Sky Knight and Archer classes, the Kinshi Knight wields Yumi and Naginata as their weapons of choice.
Kinshi Knights make for fantastic flying unit exterminators, having the high mobility of other flying units with the addition of being able to use Bows. The ability to use bows means they can exterminate other flying units with ease. Their ability to use Lances also allows them to fight back against enemies who may try to exploit the bows' weaknesses.
As the Kinshi Knight has two different base classes, their performance can vary. With the Sky Knight as their base, Kinshi Knights can benefit from increased speed and magical resistance. With the Archer class as their base, the Kinshi Knight benefits from increased overall accuracy and a slight damage increase from Bowfaire.
Their Air Superiority skill gives them a bonus of +30 to their Hit and Avoid rates when fighting against other flying units, further emphasizing their usefulness in this regard. Amaterasu provides a form of healing relief to nearby allies, though the Kinshi Knight's status as an offensive unit limits the usefulness of its healing capabilities.
Compared to the Falcon Knight, the Kinshi Knight's overall stats are slightly lower. This does not make them bad units, as the Kinshi Knight is more offensive unit, while not dodging as much. While having a lower strength than Falcon Knights, this can be quickly fixed with strength boosts such as tonics and rallying. The Kinshi Knight needs to be handled carefully, as they have less health and defense and speed then the Falcon Knight.
As the other fliers in the game, Kinshi Knights are commonly used in PvP battles, due to their 8 tiles movement and a flying status which prevents them from getting impeded by terrain like mountains and forests. Also their A rank in bows allows them to use the Spy's Yumi, which increases their attack range. They are also able to use the Crescent Bow, which coupled with decent speed and rally boosts should be enough to defeat most opponents in one battle, unless they are defensive units.
